For me, this reminds us of where God is and the life that is within us. So we turn to that source: we are saying we have no other source but him, and we turn to that source of life within us. That life will never run out. And if we keep drawing from it…

Christ in everyone

Jesus used living water as a symbol of that fountain that we can drink from,  rivers of living water flowing from our innermost being, various analogies that he used of that life that would be in us. The religious system has basically turned all of that around to become only true if we do something to allow God to do that, when he’s already done it for everyone.

It says in Corinthians that the things of the spirit are only spiritually appraised. Well, if that is true and our spirit is dead, then how could we spiritually appraise anything? How would anyone ever turn to God if their spirit were already dead? It would only be the soul that would be engaged. But it is not. It is the spirit. So the spirit is already alive. We have already received resurrection life in the spirit, which brings that to our mortal bodies so that we are immortal. And the spirit and the soul need to be coming back into correct relationship. The Holy Spirit dwells in everybody, not just when someone prays a prayer and asks Jesus to come into their heart (which he already is!).

People say, well, no, that can’t be true. But Paul very clearly stated that in Galatians 1:16, where he was talking about what happened to him on the Damascus road. Saul at the time was a Hebrew Pharisee, persecuting believers, thinking he was doing God’s will, resisting what God was wanting to do in him. He was on the Damascus road, going to Damascus to persecute more Christians, when this light came around him. And Paul said, who are you, Lord? And the response was, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But he describes that in Galatians 1:16 as God being pleased to reveal his Son in me. Not outside of me, that he needed to invite him into him. Not in the light that was around him, but in him.

And the reality is, that is true for everybody but they are not aware of it. They may be living their lives completely independently of that. They may be living their lives in a very religious way. What Paul described there was a revelation of what had already happened. He had been resisting it by choosing to follow his own religious path. And Jesus said, you’ve been kicking against the goads. You’ve been resisting me all this time. And then God called him to go and preach Christ in the Gentiles. If you read most English versions, you’ll find it says Christ among the Gentiles, because they’ve completely misinterpreted it. The same word as Christ in me is the same word as Christ in the Gentiles already. That was Paul’s message. The gospel that Paul preached was inclusion: all are included in Christ already; not that they’re all excluded and have to do some sort of works to get included.

And unfortunately, the gospel has therefore become a gospel of works. It is said to be by grace, but actually it is not. You have to pray a prayer. In their parlance you have to ‘repent’, which in their view means you have to be sorry enough to recognise that you’re a sinner and you need forgiveness and you need God in your life. And unfortunately it’s become for a lot of people very insecure, because they wonder, did I mean it, did I do enough, did God accept what I said?

Everyone is already born from above

How do we think that just praying some sort of prayer is going to suddenly transform us? We are already transformed. We need to come to that realisation. I am not saying we should not pray, or should not ask God to come in, but what we are doing is recognising what has already happened. From that realisation, we accept what has already happened. We do not make it happen. We come to a realisation that it has happened and we experience it. But it already happened for everyone. Everyone is no longer born in Adam. Everyone is already born from above. God already dwells in them and is looking to reveal that to them, through the Spirit, bringing them life so that they can enter into that relationship that Jesus promised, that they would be a dwelling place for God and that they would know.

339. Universal Inclusion in Christ

The disciples already knew the Spirit. The Spirit was with them but not yet in them. That was the promise of drinking from him and having rivers of living water, which was of the Spirit that would not yet be in them because he was not yet glorified, as it says there. So they would have recognised the Spirit, and they knew the difference when Jesus breathed into them and they received that Spirit. They were representative of all. But they knew it. Most people would not have recognised that at the time.

Wouldn’t people know? Well, a lot of people immediately started to know. The gospel spread throughout the whole known world very quickly because they did know. And at that point, they were preaching a message of inclusion. Most evangelicals today preach a message of exclusion: that you will only be included if you pray a prayer, if you are repentant. Now the word repentance, metanoia in Greek, means to have God’s mind, or to have a change of mind, to agree with God, which is what happens when you realise what God has done and you accept it. It totally changes your whole view of your relationship with God, and you then enter into and experience it.

But we have made it works-based. Every church or every stream has their own way of people responding to that: asking Jesus to come into your heart, putting your hand up in a meeting, coming to the front, an altar call. In the Catholic Church it would be taking the sacraments. They all have different ways of doing it, but it’s all based on what they do. Therefore it is works. Which is why no wonder people struggle with the affirmation of that in their lives and are always doubting and in unbelief, because they’re looking at what they did and whether it was good enough. Whereas if we look at what God did, the Father accepted all of us in Jesus, included us all in Jesus even before the foundation of the world. We were predestined to be restored to face-to-face relationship with him. Already done.

People talk about having to be born again. We’re all born from above, because that’s what the term really meant. It’s been coined ‘born again’ because Nicodemus said, well, how can I be reborn in my mother’s womb? He used that illustration because he didn’t get it. And Jesus said, you don’t get earthly things, so how am I going to describe heavenly things when you don’t even get this simple illustration? But the reality was that Jesus was promising what was going to happen, and it happened on the resurrection day, which is why we live in the power of resurrection life. It is so much more than religion has made it out to be. The Catholics focus on Good Friday, and a lot of evangelicals also make a big deal of Good Friday, but Easter Sunday, the resurrection, was the key to it. If Good Friday happened without Sunday happening, it isn’t going to work. But it did happen. Jesus overcame death, conquered death, overcame our lost identity to restore us to life.

420. The Power of Resurrection: Our Union with Christ

Jesus was not killed. He gave up his life. He surrendered his spirit. They could not take his life; he gave it up. He needed to identify with our lost condition so that he could overcome it.

And what happened while Jesus was in the grave? He went into Sheol and preached good news there to those who were imprisoned. There were those who did not have a relationship with God who were imprisoned there, and he went to preach to the spirits of those who were imprisoned. And those who did have a relationship with God would have embraced the reality of that. It says he led captivity captive. He preached, they responded, and he led all those out of that place of the grave into a new place. When he said to the thief on the cross, today you will be with me in paradise, paradise was the part of Sheol where those who had a relationship with God in the old covenant were. You have the illustration of Abraham’s bosom and the gulf between those who had a relationship and those who did not. But Jesus went and preached to them all and led them all out of that place to be with him.

245. What Jesus Did

So the thief didn’t stay long in paradise, because when Jesus was resurrected, he took those out of the grave with him. And literally, some people came out of the grave. It says so in Matthew. They were seen, wandering around Jerusalem telling people what had happened. Now, that is a one-liner in the text, but it happened. I believe those people went back into heaven with Jesus when he ascended. That cloud he went up into heaven in: you could say that is a cloud of witnesses. They didn’t stay around on earth. They went with Jesus, and he went in that cloud of witnesses back into that realm to be seated at the right hand of the Father.

172. Seven Trading Floors – Trading (2)

Mike and Deb Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott
–

No Condemnation

We are going to be looking at some difficult subjects in this post. Please do not get drawn into feelings of guilt and condemnation because of anything we write here. Let’s be sure to remember that there is no condemnation for us. The Holy Spirit will certainly bring conviction of sin where sin exists; but we can repent (that is, stop thinking about ourselves [and how we act] according to our own understanding, change our minds and see ourselves the way God does instead), turn from it and renounce it, receive forgiveness and look for transformation.

Ungodly trading

Adam and Eve traded with the accuser and gave their DNA for position and power to be like God (humanism, rationalism). That inclination to ungodly trading was passed on to each one of us.

Whenever we do not seek first God’s kingdom we are trading for ourselves; seeking to be gods of our own lives (just what Adam and Eve were offered). Esau traded his birthright for a bowl of stew, and we trade today on things that are coming tomorrow.

We even need to consider for whose benefit we are doing ministry: the approval of man is temporal, not eternal. In Matthew 6 Jesus spoke about practising righteousness before men, drawing attention to our giving, fasting and praying: there is nothing wrong with these activities except the motive.

Anything we do should be for God, for His glory, not for us. Jesus introduced a new standard, based not on external adherence but on heart motive. Anger equals murder, lust equals adultery; love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you:

“For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 5:20).

If our righteousness does not bring glory to God it is not righteousness at all.

Earthly, natural, demonic wisdom

This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing (James 3:15-16)

What source of wisdom influences, motivates and directs our decisions?

  • Whenever we seek to use our own knowledge as opposed to God’s we are falsely trading.
  • Whenever we use a substitute instead of God’s provision we are falsely trading.
  • Whenever the motives of our heart are selfish we are falsely trading

This gives access to the demonic world to influence and affect us, to restrict us and take away our inheritance.

Trading floors

When I first came to teach on this subject, I knew I could not do so without having gone through it in my own life, but I kept putting it off. Ian Clayton was a forerunner in this, and he took 8 months to work through it in his own life. In the end, I did it in three weeks, because I was part way through teaching this series already and I was running out of time. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I had to recognise how I had been meeting my own needs in my own way, and deal with the reasons for this in my heart.

There are at least seven ungodly trading floors I have recognised. I went through every one of them, asking God on each one how and where I had traded on them. God showed me in detail, and emotionally it was really difficult to deal with it.

Then I needed to outwork my repentance. I asked God to sharpen my conscience so that I would stop if I found myself going down that route again. I have found that with perseverance, it is possible to take captive the thoughts, to recognize the whispers, before I even get on that pathway.

Seven floors

I will just say a few words about each of the trading floors here, but if you would like to work through them in your own life, you may find it helpful to download the full Trading Floors document which you can find here: Negative Trading Floors – Mike Parsons

1.Tyre – money, materialism.

The King of Tyre ransacked and robbed God’s temple, using the gold to build a trading city for his own glory and gain.

This is often about money taken from God and used for our own purposes. This includes areas such as offerings, gambling, financial cheating and debt.

2. Jezebel – manipulation, control, domination, witchcraft

Jezebel was the daughter of Ichbaal (the King of Tyre), who married the King of Israel to gain control of the religious system.

This covers issues such as the use of emotions, politics, sexual wiles, bribery or blackmail, and using substances to alter how we feel.

3. Athaliah – kingly seed

Athaliah was Jezebel’s daughter (or by some accounts, sister-in-law). She married the king of Judah and tried to control the future seed by killing all the possible heirs. She used the political system to usurp authority, and became the only queen Judah ever had.

Poor self-image, believing lies and familiar spirits, and masonic involvement all belong to this trading floor.

The King of Tyre, Jezebel and Athalia were all Baal worshippers – involved in idolatry, the cult of fertility, sensuality and child sacrifice.

4. Cain – murder

Cain was the son of satan, serpent seed, who murdered Abel his half-brother because of jealousy and the nature he inherited from satan.

This is not only physical attacks, but any kind of anger, character assassination, accusations, and selfishness.

5. Delilah – seduction

She offered pleasure and gratification, seducing Samson in order to rob him of his destiny.

This trading floor is where we find people living in a fantasy (especially romantic or sexual), finding ways to gain (or hang on to) acceptance, approval, or affirmation; and a lust for money, power or influence.

6. Leviathan – gossip, lies, deception

A demonic sea creature, a twister.

This is about lying or cheating to make others think better of you; half-truths; self-promotion, looking to impress, gossip… and what are you sharing on Facebook?

7. Apollyon – opposes the gospel

A fallen angel who opposes preaching of the gospel.

Whenever we have watered down the gospel of the kingdom, offered a cheap salvation gospel, been involved with false cults, been ruled by fear or embarrassment, or failed to share the full truth of the gospel for any reason, we have traded on this floor.

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman’s hand (Ezek 33:6).

What should we do?

None of this is easy to admit to when we discover it in our lives. But the truth is, we all have it, and plenty of it. It is keeping us from what God has for us. He wants us to come into His glory, but that is impossible with all this in place. We need to get rid of it!

We must be ruthlessly honest about our past, not covering up or pretending. It is really hard to face the horrible things we have done, but the reality is that unless we do we will not be free of them.

Remember that God loves us. His love is a canopy over us, which gives us a safe place to deal with these things. Remember all the things I wrote in the first paragraph of this post. There is no condemnation for us.

This is not easy, but because forerunners have already gone there, they have made it a little less difficult for us (and our doing it will make it a little less difficult for those who follow us). We must:

  • own our past trading and motives
  • confess our trading as sin
  • seek revelation about any family trading that may influence us (we will look at this more fully in a future post on iniquity).

We may find it useful to use this diagram that we have seen before:

Event reactions2

We can use the court system in heaven. The mobile court is a very effective place to deal with all this:

  • Accept the accusation and receive God’s judgment for our own and our family’s trading
  • Repent and renounce false trading (be very specific)
  • Be separated from false trading
  • Invite God to activate our ‘reverence’ and ‘fear of God’ spiritual gates, so that our ‘conscience’ gate will be sensitive and activated.

Armed with this revelation and experience, in future we may recognise when we are going down the route towards negative trading. The earlier we can catch ourselves (or hear the Holy Spirit’s warning) and turn around, the better. We really want to get to the point where our conscience kicks in right away, so that negative trading is no longer even an option for us.

This is all part of the process of renewing our mind so that we can be transformed into the image of Jesus.

Courtroom Prayer

Before using this prayer, I recommend you work through a section (or even just a few lines) of the full Trading Floors document for yourself, so that you can be very specific about each trading floor, and how you have traded on it.

Father, I thank you that you love me
And that your kingdom is based on righteousness and justice.

By faith I step into the court of accusation.
I face my accusers and I accept and agree that I have wrongly traded.

I accept that I have followed the pathway of the knowledge of good and evil
I accept that I have been influenced and motivated
By earthly, natural and demonic wisdom.
I stand here representing myself and my forefathers, identifying with them.

I repent of and renounce all false trading for myself and my forefathers
(be very specific here about what trading you have recognised).

I receive the judgment of God
And I am justified and made righteous through my advocate, Jesus.
I release the judgment of God against my adversaries and accusers.
I receive a mandate to be separated from all false trading.

I step back into this realm
With the authority to identify and reject
All demonic, natural and earthly influences and motives.

I choose to be identified as your son
Walking in the light
Following heavenly wisdom on the earth.

139. Declarations For Transformation

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

If you are willing

If you have reached this far with us in this series on Preparing For Destiny, we are going to make some declarations together (if you have just come across this blog today, you are welcome to join us, but you might want to read a few recent posts first). So, if you are serious about wanting to surrender your life and allow God to change you from the inside out, then let us make these declarations together of our willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to show us what is going on inside us, and to transform and to change us.

Please only pray these prayers and make these declarations if you are willing. Otherwise, what if God takes you at your word, and does what needs to be done to transform you? If you are not willing and do not cooperate, it will feel like He is putting the squeeze on you like you have never known. It is better to just read over them and wait until you are really ready; better not to ask Him to do this if you’re not up for it.

Speak them aloud

But if you do mean it, if you truly want to change, then I would encourage you to stand up and to speak these things out loud. Actually speaking the words carries a power to cause them to begin to come to pass in you. If you cannot do that where you are right now, please make sure to come back and speak them aloud later.

We are giving permission to God. He is going to listen to what you’re saying and the authority that you are giving Him in your life, and He is going to start to move. At the end of the declarations, there is a prayer in which there will be a release of the angelic to operate in your life: seraphim angels with coals from the heavenly altar, and the gathering angels who will come to remove the stumbling blocks from your life.

Let’s say this out loud together:

Father, I choose to give You full permission
to do whatever it takes
to change me and transform me into the image of Jesus.

I give You full permission
to remove all stumbling blocks from me.

I give You full permission
to use whatever means You see fit
to purify, refine and restore me to my original eternal condition.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my conscience.
I repent of and renounce everything that has damaged it.
I ask You to purify and restore it.
Direct and protect me through my conscience
by a flow of reverence and fear of the Lord.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my reason centre.
I repent of and renounce doubt, unbelief,
rationalism, skepticism, cynicism and denial.
I ask You to cleanse me
of all false doctrine, philosophies and ideas.
I ask You to renew and restore my reason.
Use my reason to interpret Your thoughts
and understand Your ways.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my imagination
I repent of and renounce viewing
any image that has polluted me.
I ask You to blot out every negative image
with the blood of Jesus.
Purify and restore my imagination
Restore my screen, vision and revelation.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my heart, my sub-conscious mind.
I repent of and renounce
all strongholds, negative belief and value systems,
vows, words, curses, doctrines, triggers,
coping and defence mechanisms.
I ask You to cleanse every negative memory.
Purify, restore and reprogram my heart
with Your truth,
with Your values
and with my destiny.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my emotions.
I repent of and renounce
all unforgiveness, bitterness and anger.
I ask You to purify and restore my emotions.
Use my emotions to let me feel Your heart
and guide me through intuition.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my will
I repent of and renounce
all sin, rebellion, stubbornness, wilfulness, control,
fear, doubt, unbelief, indecision.
I ask You to purify and restore my will
and restore courage, perseverance and boldness.
Use my will to enable me to do Your will
through obedience and true worship.

Father, I choose to deny myself
and surrender control of my life to You.

And Father, I choose to follow my eternal destiny
into lordship, kingship and sonship.
Display me as a son of light on the earth.
I choose to do the works of Jesus
and the greater works.
I choose, as an ambassador,
to administer the rule of the kingdom of God
on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Amen.

Father, as we have made these declarations together

I pray you would release the gathering angels to operate in our lives
to remove all stumbling blocks,
to restore and heal and make our lives whole.
Bring us back into an eternal destiny and purpose.

I release the seraphim angels into our lives
to bring coals from the heavenly altar
to purify our lips,
to purify our hearts in every way

so that we are conformed to the image of Jesus.

I release the anointing of your presence
over the next weeks and months
to transform our lives
and change us into the image of Jesus
so we can be Jesus here on earth
manifesting the kingdom of God
on earth as it is in heaven.

I pray that each day
we will surrender ourselves as a living sacrifice
to allow you to change us.
We give up all effort to change ourselves
and we allow you to change us
from the inside out
as we surrender.

Father we thank you that you love us.
You are not punishing us
but you are disciplining us
to transform us
into the person you called us to be from eternity past.

We bless you and thank you in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

23. A Bride Bejewelled with Splendour

Mike Parsons

William and KateIt is, and always was from time and eternity past, God’s intention to have a bride for His Son. And that bride is going to be arrayed in finery, perfumed with fragrant oils, and adorned with precious jewels: she will not be dirty and dressed in filthy rags.

Royal Wedding

We had a royal wedding here in Britain a while ago when Prince William married Kate Middleton. Do you remember what that was like? The bride wore a beautiful lace dress – it must have cost thousands, maybe tens or hundreds of thousands – and she went through weeks and months of preparation to be ready for that day. God wants a bride like that for His Son.

He wants her meticulously prepared. The angels are going to be looking on in wonder and amazement. She will be adorned with the character of Christ – that is what the beauty is, the fruit of the Spirit – and bejewelled with gifts of splendour. Jesus is coming back for a bride like that. And who is that bride? It is the church, and we have the opportunity to be a part of that bride, or to be an obstacle that gets in the way.

Discipline

The Message version of Heb 12:6 says:

My dear child, don’t shrug off God’s discipline, but don’t be crushed by it either. It’s the child He loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects. God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training.

And verse 11:

But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best. At the time, discipline isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God.

So God is doing His best for us, because He wants His best for us. He is looking for a people who are well-trained, people who are mature in relationship with Him. We need to risk letting Him see inside our hearts, and we need to surrender.

Eyes on Jesus

We also have a part to play if we want His best:

London_MarathonLet us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).

You do not run a marathon carrying heavy weights. You don’t wear a heavy costume – well, some people do, but not the winners! You are not going to win the London marathon dressed in a gorilla suit.  The winner will wear a lightweight vest and proper running shoes, and their focus will be on the finishing line, the goal, and on the prize. We need to have our eyes fixed on Jesus.

It is so easy to get distracted, to take your eyes off Him and start looking around at something else that catches your attention. Not everything that distracts us is bad in itself. But we can’t afford to lose sight of Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. We will need to be radical. We will need to be ruthless. We need to ask ourselves the questions: What is it that holds me back? Entangles me? Distracts me and draws me off track? People do get drawn off track, sometimes for years. Whatever it is, you need to turn away from it, and run the race with your eyes fixed on Jesus. Such things are idols, idols in our hearts, they become bigger than God to us.

Thus says the Lord GOD, “Any man who sets up his idols in his heart, puts right before his face the stumbling block of his iniquity” (Ezek 14:4). God hates idolatry; he has the right to first place in our lives, and that is what he demands. What idols are we bowing down to? God wants them thrown down.

You can put the name of this church, or any other church in the world, into this scripture, because Jesus is saying this to His church everywhere:

And to the angel of the Church at ……… write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this… I have a few things against you… The teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality… Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth (Rev 2:12, 14, 16).

The sin of Balaam was idolatry and immorality. God is going to clean house. Anything that we fail to deal with ourselves, He is going to come and deal with it. Jesus says ‘Repent or else!’ That is a strong word, and we had better sit up and take notice. The ‘or else’ is that He will ‘come with a sharp sword and make war against them with the sword of His mouth. I don’t want that; I’m sure you don’t want it; we don’t want it for ourselves, and we don’t want it for anyone else, come to that. God is giving us one last opportunity to repent and turn away from these things.

If we are smart, we will take that opportunity.
