64. The End Of The Age

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

Important note: our view of this has moved on some since this post was first written.

We would now say that the disciples’ questions were really about just one event and that the ‘end of the age’ Jesus is speaking of is the end of the Old Covenant age and the ‘age to come’ is the New Covenant age. This means that Jesus is not changing the subject from Matt 24:34 onwards.

‘Like the days of Noah’ is a description of the times leading up to the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. However, there is still an application of this for us, as the enemy continues to seek to destroy the seed even today.

There is nothing in what Jesus says about the ‘last day’ in Matthew 24 (or in John 6:40) that we would now see as referring to the last day of history. The ‘last day’ is the end of the Old Covenant age.

Below is the original post, as first published.

We have seen that in Matthew 24, the disciples asked Jesus about three specific things:

Mount_of_Olives_(before_1899)
Mount of Olives (before 1899). Public domain.

As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” (Matt 24:3).

In recent posts we have looked at how Jesus answered the first two of these. From verse 34 onwards He is talking about the end of the age.

And the first thing to say is that no-one knows when that will be. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah” (Matt 24:36-37).

So if you come across any books, blogs or articles telling you when it is going to be, don’t even bother with them. There is nothing and no-one that can tell you. And Jesus says that not even the Son knows. Now of course Jesus knows, but as the Word of God He has not revealed it anywhere, not the exact day and the hour.

We are not supposed to know the specific time, and there is a reason for that.

“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming… For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will” (Matt 24:42, 44).

Every single believer, from that time on, needs to live as if it is the last day. It could happen today. Then we will be ready. Jesus told the story of the wise and foolish virgins to illustrate that point; the parable of the talents, too. He wanted to warn us not to be found to have wasted our talents when the Master comes. We need to be prepared; we need to live in readiness not in complacency.

What we are permitted to know is what the times will be like when that day comes. It will be like the days of Noah, and we have already seen how that involved Nephilim, widespread evil, and pollution of the human DNA. Those times will come again, and the church must face them with authority and power.

“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment” (John 5:28-29).

Jesus said there would be a day of resurrection and judgment for everyone. When? On what He called ‘the last day’.

“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:40).

Now there is something fundamental we need to understand about the last day: it is the last day. There are no days after it. So when Jesus comes and raises people from the dead, that is the end. There are not 7 years afterwards, not 3½ years, and not 1000 years. The clue is in the name: it is the last day.

Time itself stops.

And this also emphasises why Jesus will remain in heaven until every prophecy has been fulfilled, and does not come to fulfil them. There is no time for anything to be fulfilled after the last day.

‘…and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time’ (Acts 3:20-21).

I know that is not what is taught: the fulfilment of prophetic promises is routinely put off to a different age, or a different people. The truth is that the church has access to all the promises in order to see to it that the kingdom fills the earth. The alternative is the eschatology of defeat and failure we have looked at before, which only robs us of our position of power.

Here is another scripture which talks about the end in similar terms:

‘For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.  For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death’ (1 Cor 15:22-26).

The end is the end. At that point Jesus hands over the kingdom to God the Father. No more kingdom, no 1000 year rule, just the end. This scripture expressly tells us there is no more rule, authority or power after the end. They are all abolished. Jesus reigns until then, and He reigns through us.

Death too is abolished when Jesus comes, and everyone goes on to eternity, with or without Jesus.

Salvation and judgment

Look at what the Jewish crowd said when Pilate was trying to get them to release Jesus instead of Barabbas: “His blood shall be on us and on our children!” (Matt 27:25). Now that is a very serious thing to say; and it is what happened. As we have seen, the counterpart of salvation is judgment. The blood of Jesus brings salvation for us but judgment upon those who did not accept Him.

The destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 was the culmination of God’s judgment upon that generation. “The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you shall not understand” (Deut 28:49). We have been looking at that over the past couple of weeks, and seeing what scripture really has to say about it.

Darkened Sun

eclipse-32823_640Here is another much misunderstood verse: “But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken” (Matt 24:29). You can already guess what I am about to say about that: it is covenant language and needs to be understood in terms of covenant judgment. People look to see this literally fulfilled. It was not, will not be, and was never intended to be. Let the Bible interpret itself.

And I will grant wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come’ (Acts 2:19).

Even here, in the promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit being fulfilled, an amazing time of blessing, associated with it was judgment.

Government

To get insight into what sun, moon and stars mean, let us look at Genesis. The sun and moon were created by God for a specific purpose, stated in this scripture: to govern.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;  God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night’ (Gen 1:14, 16). They were signs representing government.

“I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me…” (Gen 37:9).

Joseph’s family understood that the sun, moon and stars spoke of government:  He related it to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have had? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?” (Gen 37:10).

Egypt, Babylon, Jerusalem

Nor is this prophecy about darkened sun, moon and stars unique in the Bible, as you might suppose:

And when I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon will not give its light. All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you and will set darkness on your land,” declares the Lord GOD.  “I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring your destruction among the nations, into lands which you have not known (Ezekiel 32:7-9).

That is a prophecy about the fall of the Egyptian civilisation, about the end of a system of government.  Although it might sound like the end of the world, it is not. It is just the end for them.

The same language is used of the fall of Babylon:

Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, Cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land a desolation; and He will exterminate its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not flash forth their light; the sun will be dark when it rises and the moon will not shed its light (Isaiah 13:9-10).

And here in Matthew 24:29, it is the fall of Jerusalem and of the old covenant system. This was prophesied in Zechariah 14:2-9:

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered… In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle… In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD… And the LORD will be king over all the earth.

Not also a literal splitting of the Mount of Olives: this is all about the destruction of Jerusalem and Jesus coming in judgment. The mountain speaks of authority. Remember, in all this we have to let the Bible interpret itself, and not project onto it what we think could happen in our own time.

The light of Israel was to be extinguished, the old covenant nation would cease to exist, and the old covenant system would come to an end. The partition wall between Jews and Gentiles would be removed: the mountains of Jerusalem and its walls which symbolise this division between the old and the new were to come down. This is what Paul had to say about it:

For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross (Eph 2:14-16).

This was the end of the ‘one nation, one city, one temple’ wineskin. Today, there is one people of God: those who have faith in Christ Jesus.

52. Wheat and Tares

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott
 –

We have been considering the disciples’ question about Jesus’ return and the end of the age. It is essential to view all this through covenant eyes. God has always worked through covenants with men, and every time it was men who broke them. But they were all fulfilled in Jesus: every promise God ever made finds its ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ in Him. There are not two covenants in operation in our day, just one. And it is one which we cannot break, because it was not made with us, but with Jesus.

AD 70

We have seen that Jesus’ answer in Matthew 24 (at least up to verse 34, but probably the whole chapter) refers to the end of the Old Covenant age and the destruction of Jerusalem, especially its temple. “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”. AD 70 would have been the end of that generation of disciples Jesus was talking to. The main fulfilment of all those prophetic words happened in that period. That is not to say that we cannot see further examples of them in our day – and throughout church history – but we are not waiting for them to happen as signs of the end. The end that Jesus was talking about already came.

We looked briefly at the decline and revival of the church over the centuries, how the Holy Spirit began to break back in once the scriptures were available in the common language again. I would encourage you to read the ‘God’s Generals’ series of books by Roberts Liardon, and see how God began to restore truth to the church through some amazing godly men and women. But as God sowed wheat, the enemy also sowed tares. Tares look just like wheat, and you can only tell the difference because tares don’t produce a harvest. So in the very period when God was working in revival and power, we also see the birth of Darwinism, Marxism, humanistic philosophy – false systems of belief sown into the world. And not only into the world – into the church too. Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Christian Science all started around this time. Some of them looked like the truth, and people are still deceived by them today.

False doctrines

In 1826 the Brethren movement rejected the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and put back the purposes of God for another 80 years. In rejecting the truth, they also embraced deception, as often happens. And the enemy was able to use this to sow in false teaching and false doctrines which have plagued the church ever since. This is what God is starting to challenge and remove so that we can regain a true perspective of His kingdom.

What were some of those things?

  • Dispensationalism. Separating up scripture into particular periods of time in which God works in different ways. That breaks up the continuity of scripture and prevents people seeing the whole picture of God’s plan and purposes through the ages.
  • Cessationism: The belief that gifts of the Holy Spirit are not for now, that they stopped in the New Testament when the last apostle died.
  • Pre-Millennialism: Jesus was going to come back before the Millennium. Up to that time the only people who taught that were the Jesuits. No-one else believed it. Now it is prevalent among large sections of the church.
  • The Rapture: God would come for His people in a ‘secret rapture’, take them and leave everyone else behind. That doctrine only arose in this same period. And now it is the subject of a whole series of best-selling Christian books and accepted without question by much of the church as being what the Bible teaches.
  • Seven Years of Tribulation on the earth: this belief only started to appear at this time.
  • The separation of Israel and the church.

This was all so insidious that it spread like wildfire. The Schofield Bible came out of all this, robbing the church of authority by promoting an eschatology of defeat and rescue rather than of victory and of the increase of God’s kingdom to fill the earth. All of a sudden it was maintenance, put the walls up, protect your beliefs, have nothing to do with the world. The Brethren church was so exclusive you were not even allowed into their meetings unless you could prove that you came from another Brethren Assembly. I was brought up in this, and when I got baptised in the Spirit, God just challenged my whole theology. I have had to re-examine everything I believed: even now I have to be continually open for God to show me the truth.

Greek and Hebrew mindsets

The background to this is that there is a difference between the Greek and the Hebrew mindset. We have briefly touched on that before. Let’s be clear, I am not talking about reading scripture in the Greek and Hebrew languages, but about our way of looking at things when we approach scripture. Here are a couple of tables I often use to illustrate some of that:

Greek Mentality

Hebrew Mentality

The goal of salvation is to escape this world and go to God’s dwelling place in heaven The goal of salvation is to prepare a place fit for God’s dwelling here, among His people
The kingdom of God exists in heaven, not upon the earth The kingdom of God is God’s reign among people here on earth
Jesus is coming to take us away from this world Jesus is coming to reign over us and through us in this world
Message: “Get your ticket now, or you might miss the train!” Message: “The kingdom of God is coming! Get ready to serve the King and manifest the kingdom.”

Greek mindset

Hebrew mindset

Form Function
What I do How I do it
Secular/Religious Unified
Heavenly/Earthly Dual
Knowledge Experience
What I know Who I know
Works Grace
Creed Deed
Analyse Live – Be and Do

You will recognise many of the approaches in the left hand columns. They sum up how most of us have been taught, and have affected how we view everything. God is removing stumbling blocks, and we are going to find that the Greek mindset is increasingly going to be challenged.

44. The Supernatural Kingdom of God

daniel

Mike Parsons

We are continuing to look at the kingdom of God as prophesied in the book of Daniel.

How great are His signs
And how mighty are His wonders!
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom
And His dominion is from generation to generation

(Daniel 4:3).

Supernatural

The kingdom of God is a kingdom of power and supernatural manifestations. Jesus said that His kingdom is not of this world. That is because it is heaven being manifested on the earth:

… For He is the living God and enduring forever,
And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed,
And His dominion will be forever.
He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth…

(Dan 6:26-27).

What He does in heaven, he also does on earth, including signs and wonders.

We encourage people to get hold of Bill Johnson’s books, because he talks about how heaven invades earth through God’s people. People are only going to be convinced of the truth of the gospel, as Paul tells us, not by wise and persuasive words but by demonstration of the Spirit and of power – in other words, with signs, wonders and miracles.

Greater works

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father (John 14:12).

I spent a whole year teaching on this verse not so long ago. It is Jesus’ mandate to us, to His disciples, to His church. It is the same mandate of kingdom authority which was originally given to Adam and Eve in the Garden, but which they lost.

That is why I am not just looking for us to get back to the level of power and authority which the disciples displayed in the book of Acts. The level of the supernatural power of God that Adam and Eve possessed was vastly superior to that. They would have been capable of supernatural manifestations way beyond anything we see in the early church. And if Jesus will remain in heaven until the restoration of all things (Acts 3:21), then we are going to see that level of power and authority restored.

Freely give

Freely you have received: freely give (Matt 10:8).

As we go out with the message of this kingdom, we are to give away what we have received. This encourages us to seek God for more manifestations of the supernatural in our own lives, because the more signs and wonders and supernatural manifestations of God’s power we have received, the more we can give away. Signs and wonders should overflow from our lives as we engage with God in the heavenly realms and live out that reality in our daily lives. One of the phrases God spoke to me while I was on the fast was about ‘living in and living out the manifest presence of God’.

The glory of God is no good to people if it is locked up inside us. It is time for us to shine. And I do believe we will literally shine, that our faces will glow with the radiance of God’s glory. It happened to Moses – it can happen again. And that will cause people to sit up and take notice.

We will find that when the shaking comes, as it will, then words will not be enough. We will need to be able to live demonstrating the truth by the manifestation of God’s kingdom. So we must get ready for that time, we must throw off all the idols, all the hurt and disappointment with which the enemy seeks to weigh us down. He is just trying to intimidate us, just trying to cause us to back off. We cannot allow that to happen.

Hungry

We need to be increasingly hungry and thirsty to pursue God. We need to get everything going, everything God has for us. When prayer and impartation are being offered, I always encourage people to come forward for everything. In a sense it doesn’t matter what it is! For myself, I always try to find a way I can fit into the category of people who are being called forward. I want more; I want everything there is which will empower me, prepare me and equip me to be manifested as a son of God, as a joint heir with Christ.

We need to grasp the reality of this: sons of God, joint heirs with Christ:that is what  we are (Rom 8:14-17).

Superheroes

Let’s be willing to be superheroes. Some of you know how much I love science fiction. Some of the super-powers that those characters have on films and in TV series, I believe we will literally be like that. People will see the power coming from our fingers. We will be able to move instantly from one place to another. In the Spirit. And yes, we will shine. People will either run from us or fall on their faces asking, ‘what must we do to be saved?

Honestly, I believe that is what it will be like when we are truly ‘living in and living out’ the supernatural kingdom of God.

43. New wine, new wineskin

Mike Parsons

And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in Scripture: “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED” (1 Pet 2:4-6).

Living stones

That Stone, as we have seen, shows up in Daniel 2 in the king’s dream which Daniel interprets. The Stone is Jesus, and it grows into a mountain (His kingdom) which fills the earth. That kingdom comes through us, His people, because we are living stones. If we believe and catch hold of this truth in our spirit, the promise is that we will not be disappointed.

You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth (Rev 5:10)

There are people now who are reigning in heaven, because they have died. But we actually also reign in heaven, and we reign here on the earth. We need to reign in both places, just as Jesus was manifested in both places, because you know that we are seated in the heavenly realms even as we live our lives here on earth. It is essential for us to have access to the heavenly realms in order to bring heaven to earth.

That is why God is opening up those heavenly doors for us to have heavenly encounters, throne room encounters, to meet Him in heaven, to see Him face to face; to see what is the will of God in heaven; to see those things that will enable us to manifest the kingdom of God, the favour of God, the power, wisdom and glory of God – on earth as it is in heaven.

So in Daniel 2, the Stone is Jesus, the mountain is His kingdom, and His kingdom is manifested through us, through the church.

New wineskins

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins Luke 5:37-38.

The enemy is constantly trying to get us to adopt new versions of the Old Covenant system – because he knows that if he can convince us to do so it will rob us of true kingdom power and authority. People have talked for years about needing a new wineskin, meaning a new form of church, but that is missing the point. Any ‘new, improved version’ of the Old Covenant system is still an old wineskin incapable of holding the new wine of the kingdom. It is not a new form of church that is the new wineskin: the new wineskin is us. We are the containers of His Presence, and we can (and should) be those who fully manifest His kingdom authority.

It is no longer about one country, one city, one temple. They cannot contain God’s Presence… but God’s people can.

33. The Day Of His Power

Mike Parsons

Ever since the Garden of Eden, man has been trying to do things apart from God. All we like sheep have gone astray we have all done things our own way. The whole world system has been set up to provide an alternative to God, but it is coming down.

The pride of man will be humbled and the loftiness of men will be abased; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, but the idols will completely vanish. Men will go into caves of the rocks and into holes of the ground before the terror of the LORD and the splendour of His majesty, when He arises to make the earth tremble’ (Isa 2:17-19).

God is going to arise and make the earth tremble, shaking it to its very core. When it crumbles and falls, what is left? The kingdom which cannot be shaken (Heb 12:28), the kingdom of God which is within us (Luke 17:21).

This is what is going to take place:

Now it will come about that In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it. (Isa 2:2)

The house of the Lord is the church, and the mountain is kingdom authority. It will be established over and above all those other hills and mountains, over every authority that exists in the world, and everyone will stream to it because the church will have the answers that the world is looking for. Are we really up for that? We need to be. At the moment, evil spirits are controlling those world systems: those spirits need to be dethroned, and God is going to use His people to dethrone them.

Light and darkness

This is a word that has been given over and over, here in Freedom Church and worldwide:  Arise, shine; for your light has come and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you (Isa 60:1). Jesus is coming for His church, and His church is supposed to be light to the world: we are to be children of light. There is going to be a period of great light where the harvest of harvesters is going to come in. But read verses 2-3:

Behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

When there is nowhere else to go, when we are shining in the darkness, when the glory of God is manifested through His church, when the Presence of God is manifest, then people are going to start to come. And then, in a great period of darkness, we are to shine even brighter for that end-time harvest. That is what God is calling us to. That is what He is preparing us for.

We need to start shining. We need to start getting the glory of God in our lives; we need to start letting the glory of God out of our lives. We must manifest the presence of God in our daily lives, not just in meetings, but everywhere. God’s glory must be so evident in us that people will start coming up to us saying ‘what must I do to be saved?’ They will come to us in desperation because everything they have put their trust in has come to nothing.

Choose

What must we do? It is time to choose who we are going to serve. A Joshua generation is being raised up, and we can be part of it. It was Joshua who said to the children of Israel:

Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served, and serve the LORD. Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD (Joshua 24:14-15).

It is time to get rid of the idols, time to decide to serve the Lord. At Freedom, as a church, we have made that decision. We are going to serve the Lord. No matter what it costs and no matter what it takes; no matter how much we have to do that we might rather not do, we are going to serve the Lord. And we want other people to be part of that, because God is going to raise up churches and ministries around the world to be part of this move, to equip this end-time generation.

It is also time to choose individually: who am I going to serve? Am I going to serve the idols of my past, or am I going to surrender and serve the living God? Have I been serving myself, have I been serving the enemy, or have I been serving God?  Who am I going to serve?

As for me, I am going to serve God.

He is going to pour out His light, pour out His Spirit: He is going to equip us beyond our wildest dreams. Honestly, some of the things I have seen, some of the things the other prophetic people have seen coming – that shaking of the world’s systems – it will be like nothing in history, nothing that has ever taken place before, and we have to be ready for it. But God is asking, are we ready to volunteer in the day of His power (Ps 110:3)?

He is looking for those volunteers, because the day of His power is surely coming.

32. Nations Will Stream To It

Mike Parsons

Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it (Isa 2:2).

There is going to be a shaking.
I would encourage you to read and meditate on these verses:

And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heaven”. This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire (Heb 12:26-29).

Shaking

It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Heb 10:31). But we have an opportunity to surrender to that fire, to allow Him to consume all the rubbish that is in our lives so that He can prepare us. Everything that has been man-made and created in this world – every system, such as humanism, that has been created to rule over the world and to show forth man’s power and what man can do – all of those things are going to be shaken in these days, and shaken to such a degree that the whole structure is going to collapse.

We have to be ready.

The religious systems are going to be shaken and shown up as false, counterfeit and worthless: they will have no answers for people in these days. The whole worldly system will be shaken to its very core. We have seen what a little ripple in the financial system can do, with people buying up debt which couldn’t be repaid: it shook the world – and that is nothing compared to what it is going to be like when these things are not just shaken a little, but are shaken until they totally collapse.

The same is true of the education system, governmental systems, the media, arts, the entertainment business, the whole medical system. There are going to be diseases which the medical experts have no answers for, and some of them will actually be man-made created diseases which are going to be released in the world. I have seen this, and I know others have too. But when the world has no idea what to do in the face of these diseases, we are going to have the answers. That’s why we need to be equipped with healing power.

Meltdown

Where are people going to go when the world’s system is in total meltdown, in famine and collapse? When every one of those systems is shaken to its core, their root of materialism is going to be exposed. Materialism has been defined as ‘looking for material answers to meet spiritual needs’, and that is how the world’s system operates: it offers things to meet our need, and it will be exposed as a sham. All the counterfeits are going to be exposed for what they are: powerless to bring eternal salvation or lasting change. All man-made humanistic systems will be shaken; all the ‘-ologies’ and the ‘-isms’ and suchlike philosophies are going to fall. They are going to become meaningless when people have nothing and nowhere to go, when everything they have put their trust in is suddenly useless.

So where are they going to go? They are going to be looking for a people who are ready. They are going to turn to a people who have the answers, to a people who are operating in genuine supernatural power, who can offer safety and security and provision, healing and miracles. Every system that man trusts in and relies upon will fail. All the cultural systems, the whole of society as we know it, will crumble.  The Word of God talks about it, and that is why God is calling us worldwide to be prepared for this to take place. That is why He is warning us, that is why He is saying now is the time to deal with the stumbling blocks, to deal with the idols, and to allow Him to start moving in us so that we are ready when it comes.

This is what it will be like:

The proud look of man will be abased and the loftiness of man will be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoning against everyone who is proud and lofty and against everyone who is lifted up, that he may be abased. Against all the lofty mountains, against all the hills that are lifted up against the knowledge of truth (Isa 2:11-14).

Mountains’ are authorities, systems of authority, and they are going to come down because their pride is in man.

It was knowledge, apart from God, that the devil offered Eve in the garden of Eden, and she took up that offer. Ever since, man has been trying to do things apart from God, and set up his own systems to achieve this.

They are all coming down.

31. Authentic Supernatural Power and Authority

Mike Parsons –

We have seen how Joseph was called from the dungeon by Pharoah to interpret his dreams, and how he used the harvest of the years of plenty to provide food for the years of famine (Genesis 41). Joseph was able to do this because he had a relationship with God, and knew how to operate in the supernatural. In our days, God intends us to operate in the same way, and intends us to do signs and wonders just as Jesus did, because of our relationship with Him.

Supernatural

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father (John 14:12).

The reason we need to be doing the greater works, and to train others up to do them too, is because as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man (Matt 24:37). We have already written a little about how it was in the days of Noah, how there were manifestations of evil in heavenly places which were then worked out on the earth. Those times are going to come again, and we need to be ready with supernatural power.

Purified

I have seen pictures and visions of fires burning in the atmosphere of the earth, the kingdom that is in darkness. The fires are purifying those realms of authority, the principalities and powers, presently occupied by the prince of the power of the air.

We are connected to the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven in the heavenly realms. We can go and meet with God: we can meet Him face to face, we can have encounters with Him in that heavenly realm. We need to be familiar with what heaven is like, if we are to bring it here on earth. We do not need to go through the atmosphere of the earth to access the heavenlies: we can access them via a direct connection, because the door is always open to us. But when we come back to the realm of the kingdom of the earth, we can go back through the kingdom in darkness to bring the light; dispel the darkness and take authority there. Some of you have already had revelation of thrones and how you need to be seated in places of authority in the heavenly realms.

God is going to cause the kingdom in darkness to be purified. I have seen fire going up into the atmosphere realms from this realm: I have seen maps of places with fire going up from them and just engulfing and purifying that realm. That realm was never intended for the enemy: it was intended for God’s people, for Adam and Eve, for us. We should occupy that realm and rule from there.

The counterfeit and the authentic

So we need to reclaim everything that has been counterfeited and lost. New Age people and occultists are operating in realms of the spirit in ways that actually put most Christians to shame: they can do things supernaturally that most Christians wouldn’t even dream about. Now I completely agree that they are doing so from totally the wrong source of power, but in fact they are just counterfeiting what God calls His people to do.

We have to be a supernatural people: we need to demonstrate true spiritual authority. Light is going to triumph over darkness, but darkness is going to be seen. There is going to be a challenge just like with the prophets of Baal, there is going to be a calling down of fire from heaven; where we challenge the forces of evil, we challenge the demonic realm – and we win. You need to know that: we win. He that is in us is greater than he that is operating in those realms and in the world.

We win, but we are going to have to be ready to win. We are going to operate in authentic supernatural power: there are going to be transportations and translations and so on; and although just now the church seems to be saying “stay away from that stuff”, in reality much of what we see in the occult is only a counterfeit of how we should truly be operating. Where a counterfeit exists, it proves there also exists an authentic original.

Yes, we “stay away” from the power source that they are tapping into, but we need to reclaim what has been counterfeited and demonstrate to the world what true spiritual power and authority looks like. We need to use the keys of the kingdom effectively, and God is going to teach us how to do so.

I know that some of you are engaging these realms already: some of you are engaging the courts of heaven; some of you are engaging these thrones; but they have a system of authority that we have to deal with and we have to break down. God is going to train us and equip us to do this, so that we can bring light; so that we can occupy those realms of authority and release that authority on earth.

In releasing that authority on earth, we release the gospel to go out, and bring in a harvest.

16. Prophetic Timetable Overview (part 1)

Mike Parsons  –

This is the full version of the diagram we began to look at last time. In this post and the next one, I am just going to give you a brief overview of what God has shown me He is looking to do in each of these periods, and then we will begin to look at each stage in much more detail in coming days and weeks.

Firstly there is a call to intimacy: God started doing this a while ago, and it will continue. I know a lot of people struggle with intimacy. Even when we come together, when we are praising the whole place is heaving and full up at the front; as soon as we begin moving into intimacy you can see people start to drift off. There is something totally different about us giving God praise (which comes from our spirit) and real intimacy (which comes from His Spirit and our spirit joined together). God wants us to know intimacy. I am going to be going into that a lot more as we go on.

Second, there is going to be a gathering and removing of stumbling blocks. Angels have begun gathering here in our meetings. I have seen them, as have others. They are not just the trumpet angels, the healing angels, or the breakthrough angels: they are the gathering angels. They have been watching, waiting for an opportunity to gather and remove stumbling blocks from us, from the church. There is going to be a whole move where God does that.

There is judgment coming to the household of God: it is going to divide what is of God and what isn’t. However, judgment is not condemnation: with God, judgment is always an opportunity to change. Again, I will go into this more fully in future posts.

There are challenging times coming.

There is going to be a harvest of labourers. We are going to see thousands and thousands of people turning to Jesus, and that is not an end-time harvest, it is to prepare to send out labourers into the harvest fields to bring in the end-time harvest. Ask Jesus for them (Luke 10:2). There are going to be prodigals returning by their hundreds, streaming back to God. God is going to be drawing them.

Awesome times, but we need to be very careful to prepare and equip those people to do the things that God is calling them to do. There is going to be a raising up of the Joshua generation at this time – Caleb and Joshua were people of a different spirit who were able to take the people into their inheritance, the promised land. God is calling for a generation to be raised up, who will bring and equip those harvesters to bring in the final harvest. There are going to be apostolic centres to train those harvesters, and we are going to be one of those centres. There will be an increasing manifestation of the five-fold ministries and gifts of the Spirit to train people. There is going to be an increasing manifestation of people who seek first the Kingdom of God, people who live it, not just say it or know what it says, but who actually live it day by day and hour by hour.

There is going to be a shaking of the world’s systems, a storm of judgment coming on the earth, and we have to be ready, because we must have the answers in the judgment that is coming. When the world’s systems have fallen apart, the church is going to be raised up in authority, with answers. When the medical experts have no cure for some of the diseases that are going to be released, we will have healing in our hands. We have already seen a minor shaking of the financial system, a little tremor, causing a crisis the experts could hardly manage, which turned into a worldwide recession: when it all collapses, we will be people who can say, ‘Oh, over there in that fish’s mouth there is a roll of £50 notes!’ Or, ‘You need food this week? Oh, OK, there you go, I’ll just multiply what you have.’

Do you remember Elisha and that story about the widow and her son, and the oil that didn’t stop flowing until they ran out of pots to fill? Oil was a precious substance, you could use it for cooking but you could also sell it. As soon as they ran out of pots, the oil stopped flowing. That is a picture of what God is doing here. If you don’t want the oil to stop flowing, you have to keep coming for more, and bring more people who come as empty pots to be filled. People from the churches round here come to be filled, people find us on social media and YouTube and catch God’s heart in what we are saying, and they go on to fill others who are hungry and thirsty for more.

Returning to what I was saying, these world systems are all going to be shaken. Increasingly, we are going to see more ‘little’ examples of shaking which build up to a great shaking.

Next time we will look at the remaining periods in this diagram: the final harvest, the last day, the return of Jesus and the age to come.

11. Authority, Power and Glory

Mike Parsons

bright small sizeWe have to get ready and be prepared because the spiritual warfare which has been hidden is going to become more open and obvious. The meaning of the word ‘occult’ is just ‘hidden’ – spiritual warfare has been largely hidden in the western world – but as we have said before, soon the enemy’s schemes that are hidden are going to be exposed, and it is our light that is going to expose them.

Manifestations

If you go to Africa, or Brazil, or many places in the developing world where spiritual things are really open, you will see manifestations you would not see if we cast out a demon here. We may get a bit of screaming or wriggling, we do not get transformation into werewolves or snakes or other things; I am talking about actual physical transformation.

I ministered up in the Amazon jungle in Brazil, and we started praying for a girl who began to spin like a top, faster than was naturally possible. We couldn’t see her, she was spinning so fast. We were all amazed, thinking ‘What is this?’ But anyway, we told it to get out and it left (you really do not need to be frightened of this kind of thing because we have the authority in Jesus, and we have the power over demonic powers to cast them out in Jesus’ name).

I know many people who have ministered in Africa, who have seen stranger things than this. When Todd Bentley ministered there they had a big pit they called the ‘Snake Pit’ at the front, lined with people who ministered, and anyone who began to manifest in the meetings was put in that pit. I am not going to tell you what went on in there, it would blow most people’s minds. The open power of the demonic is common in those countries: witch doctors operate in those kinds of abilities, and they really can do things which western people cannot even conceive of.

Light is going to shine

Today it is hidden here, but it is going to become more open, because the light is going to shine brighter and brighter. The world may get darker and darker, but the light is going to shine. God is going to expose the darkness that is going on in this nation. Those things that are currently hidden will not be able to hide any longer when the light starts to really shine. And it is going to start to shine.

We will be casting demons out of people on the street and in the supermarket and in other public places because the power of God will expose the demonic. When you walk around in the power of God and the glory of God, and the Holy Spirit is so strong in you, you will bring conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16) and people cannot walk past you without either running or getting on their knees in repentance. That time is going to come: we must start resonating with the voice of God from heaven, start receiving that light, shining with that light, and operating in that light.

Adam was glorious in the Garden of Eden. I will go into this more next time: he didn’t look the way we do now, the glory of God clothed him on the outside. He shone. And God intends to restore that glory to us.
