504. Lucid Dreams and Divine Visions

Mike Parsons

The difference between a lucid dream and a vision is really only that you are asleep rather than awake when you have it.

The difference between a lucid dream and a vision is really only that you are asleep rather than awake when you have it. They are basically the same thing, just in a different format, one being asleep and one being awake. If you are conscious of what is going on in the dream and you are engaging with the dream, there is no real difference to being conscious in a vision, having an encounter and engaging that vision.

Sometimes it is simply a way that God can engage with us when we are not in control of our conscious thinking, like when we are asleep. If it is a lucid dream and you are interacting with it, then is it a dream that God is giving you and you are in an encounter with God, and are the other people who come into the dream part of that encounter? Either they are visionary, in that God is showing you a person and interacting with you, or that person’s spirit is engaging in your dream.

Again, it all comes down to what God’s purpose is. Therefore you have to go back to God and ask him to show you what he was trying to communicate, what the significance was of a particular person, whether known or unknown, within your dream. Just like a lot of people have visionary experiences but do not know what they are about, they then have to go back to God and ask him.

If you are interacting with the dream and things are happening, those things can be actual things that are going on, or they could be symbolic of something that is going on. Again, you have to discern that. On many occasions where I was engaging things, visionary encounters and experiences, I was there engaging them and things were happening to me. If I was in conversation with God within that experience, then I could trust what he was saying. If God was not there and I was seeing things or doing things, then I would be more cautious in my interpretation of what was happening.

Usually I would then check out what happened with God to ensure that I was not putting my own spin on it. When I first encountered, for example, the high chancellors’ houses, and wisdom took me there and I engaged with the high chancellors and all of the houses, God was nowhere in that encounter. I believe God totally inspired that encounter and wisdom interacted with me in many different ways on God’s behalf. But I always went back and said, “Okay, I need deeper insight into this. What were you trying to show me?” I wanted to make sure that it was a pure experience, not something I was spinning through my own filters or trying to understand through my own experiences.

When God was with me, showing me something and speaking to me, I was more confident. I was sure this was God. Sometimes he told me things that were very clear. He has also told me things that were not very clear. I did not mistrust what he said, I just did not understand it at that point. That usually lodges in my heart and then works out in a future situation, where suddenly I understand what it was about. God will say something to stimulate my attention, where I think, I do not know what he is talking about, or I am not fully understanding this, and then I pursue the understanding of it.

When it comes to people, I have encountered people, or people have told me that they have encountered me in a vision or a heavenly experience. I did not remember those experiences because I was asleep at the time, usually at night, and my spirit engaged them. But when I focused on it, sometimes my spirit gave me information that affirmed that encounter. It was like my spirit said, yes, we did. Sometimes I would say, well, what did we talk about? When they described the conversation and what went on, it was very much in sync with what they said I had said. It was like, yes, that was exactly what I would have said if we had had that conversation.

There are different ways in which you experience and encounter things, and they are all good. Every time I go to sleep at night, I make my spirit available for whatever God might want me to do, outside of all the other things I am doing. It is simply saying, I am available for anything you might want me to engage with. That could include engaging other people. Often those people will gain something from the experience that they are seeking.

I cannot remember engaging a person in that type of visionary experience where I was seeking them, but I have engaged the cloud of witnesses for specific things where I felt there might be some insight. I have engaged people like Esther, David, Daniel, Jacob and Joshua at various times during my journey, and then gone back and re-engaged them at a future date to find out more. There is no real difference between a person who is alive and you engaging their spirit in a dream or a vision, and someone who is physically dead but you are still engaging their spirit and soul within a vision. Hebrews describes them as the firstborn enrolled in heaven. They are still active and we can still engage them.

One of the questions I would ask is whether I can have these experiences when I am awake and not sleeping, because then I can engage the experience more fully. I journal everything. I want a record of the things I have encountered. If you wake up having had that experience, it can be harder to journal exactly what happened in a dream or visionary setting. I have come back and written those things out, but mostly what I do is journal while I am having the experience, so that I am totally aware and completely lucid, writing down what is happening during that experience with God or any other encounter.

Occasionally I go back to an experience because I feel there may be some detail I missed. Often when I am listening and talking to God, I am not paying attention to what is going on around me unless he is pointing something out. Particularly in the early days, when all this was new, I would revisit experiences to make sure I had not missed something. As time went on, I became much more confident in my ability to discern, write down and engage.

So ask God whether you can have these experiences when you are not sleeping, and see what happens. If there is a particular person you are unsure about, ask the Father to show you what to do. Sometimes a person may appear in a dream and prompt you to pray for them, protect them, or respond in some way. Until you get into the flow of it and discover what was behind it, there can be many different specifics.

Sometimes a person may speak to you and tell you something, just as a prophet might come and prophesy. Sometimes a person can be speaking on God’s behalf. That is something I believe I have done on a number of occasions when engaging people in that realm.

Ultimately there is no right or wrong in this. It is all part of learning to discover and journey through encounters and experiences, becoming more discerning and more able to pick these things up. If we are open and we have a lucid dream experience, then it is because God wants to speak to us that way. It may be more difficult for him to speak to us while we are awake, perhaps because we are distracted. When you are asleep there is less conscious activity to interfere.

So ask him, and see if he has insight for you and a purpose for each encounter you are having. I do not see a difference between lucid dreams and visions or lucid visions. They are essentially the same sort of encounter, one when you are asleep and one when you are awake.

494. What Enoch Teaches Us about Readiness and Change

Mike Parsons

I do believe that God speaks to us. And if He is sending someone to speak, then He has something for us to hear. I would say that message is: get ready.

If you do not see the video above, please click here.

I do not really look at the appearances of the cloud of witnesses, or Enoch, or anyone else, as though they are meant to mark out some new era of rest or shift in season. In reality, since Jesus came, we should be living in a time of rest. This is the age of the Kingdom. I have never been much for dividing things into different ages, or assigning each one to a different period of maturity, because I think some people have walked in maturity from the very beginning. Still, I do believe that God speaks to us. And if He is sending someone to speak, then He has something for us to hear. I would say that message is: get ready.

Enoch, after all, walked with God. And he still is walking with God. The only difference is that he is not doing it here. So, if there is any message in the reports of Enoch showing up to people, I think it is the same: be ready. Be ready for whatever happens, and be listening for what it is that Jesus, or the Father, is saying to prepare us for it.

Now, I do not believe we are waiting for a Second Coming, or the end of the world, or anything of that kind. What I believe we are waiting for is the restoration of all things. And in that process of restoration, things on earth will need to change. If we are going to see “on earth as it is in heaven”, then earth as it is now cannot stay the same. But God is not going to wave a magic wand over creation and simply make everything different. People have to change.

For the world to change, people have to change. Not just political systems or social structures, but people. And for people to change, they must find a reason to do so. So I believe that everything humanity has placed its trust in – everything that keeps the world as it is – will be challenged. Those things will no longer feel safe or secure, and people will start looking for something more solid. What they should find is the manifestation of God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, the revealing of the sons of God who carry heaven’s light into the world’s apparent darkness.

There may well be shakings of systems that cause people to lose trust in them. That could take many forms, but I believe God prepares and warns us beforehand. So why would Enoch in particular be appearing? What is it about him that is significant? Perhaps nothing beyond this: Enoch walked with God, and still does in the heavenly realm, and retains a body that allows him to function in this realm. That alone sets him apart from most of the cloud of witnesses who have laid aside their earthly bodies.

I have engaged with Enoch a number of times, and on several occasions God sent him with what he called “quests” for me to fulfil. Enoch understands the nature of walking with God in both heaven and on earth, and so he carries insight into how those two realities intersect. When it says Enoch walked with God, I do not think it means merely that God showed up on earth to stroll with him as He did with Adam in the garden. I believe Enoch walked with God in both the heavenly and earthly realms, and at some point God took him fully into that heavenly realm for a particular reason.

When he came to me in what I now call the chamber of destiny, he gave me specific quests that brought significant changes to how I did things. Each one opened up a new level of understanding and maturity, another way in which God wanted to operate through me.

I think right now many people are having experiences of God – some mystical, heavenly – but they do not always understand the purpose of those experiences in the context of restoration. What difference do they make on earth? They are enjoying their encounters, but are those encounters transforming the earth through them? Are they manifesting heaven on earth through their lives? That is what needs to change. And I believe God is about to accelerate those changes.

224. Called According to His Purpose

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28).

Do you know His purpose for your life? That is what we mean when we speak about destiny. Destiny is not ‘fate’, not ‘que sera sera‘, predetermined without any choice or pursuit on our part. It is God’s pre-agreed plan for our lives – and we can choose to pursue it or not. That choice has consequences for us, not only in this life but beyond.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jer 1:5).

We are not all called to be a prophet to the nations like Jeremiah. But each of us is called according to God’s particular purpose for us.

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book (scroll) were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!

(Psa 139:16-17).

Supernatural record of God’s intention

At conception there is a flash of light. Our natural DNA carries the natural record of our genetic ancestry, but when our spirit enters at that point, it carries our destiny, the supernatural record of God’s intention for our life. It is deposited within us for us to discover. It is like a letter of decree, a commission for us. We can access our scroll of destiny in the heavenly record room, or have it revealed around the arc in the heavenly tabernacle, but God also wants us to seek out and pursue the promptings within us which draw us towards His purposes for us.

And along with the destiny comes all the provision necessary to fulfil it. If we stay on the path we will find the provision, but there is no provision for pursuing our own agenda if we get off the pathway.

God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule” (Gen 1:28).

Adam forfeited his destiny through rebellion and disobedience, choosing the pathway of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but Jesus came to restore and unlock our destiny for us so that we can follow the pathway of the Tree of Life. Creation itself is longing for the day we step up and fulfil our destiny to rule both in the earth and in the heavens (see Rom 8:19-20).

Maturity

Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by the father (Gal 4:1-2).

We want to grow into mature sons, not to remain as immature children. Our heavenly Father assigns angels, the seven spirits of God and the cloud of witnesses as those managers and guardians who will help us come into maturity so that we don’t miss out on our destiny.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, “If you will walk in My ways and if you will perform My service, then you will also govern My house and also have charge of My courts, and I will grant you free access among these who are standing here” (Zech 3:7).

There is a process revealed here which leads to maturity, following the pathways of relationship and responsibility; a progression from the earthly (servant, bondservant, steward, friend) to engaging in the heavenly (lords, kings and sons). Both heavenly and earthly pathways are necessary for us to fulfil our destiny. When we hear the heart of God, it will lead us to fulfil the call of God: everything we do will come from relationship with God, not for a relationship with God (which only leads to religion and bondage). And God really wants us to hear His heart.

Walking in the garden

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden… Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden east of Eden to cultivate it and keep it (Gen 2:7-8,15).

They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day (Gen 3:8).

Our destiny is both heavenly and earthly, so we can access both the heavenly and earthly gardens (which originally overlapped). We too can hear ‘the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden’ – and that sound is a frequency, a harmony, a song, a fragrance. The Tree of Life is available to us once more, and the River of Life is flowing out of heaven to water the earth. It is our destiny to engage in this overflowing river: we are its channel as it flows through the garden of our own hearts and out into the world around us. It is a well in us springing up to eternal life (John 4:10) and becoming rivers of living water from which those who are thirsty can come and drink (John 7:37).

Our natural DNA vibrates with the chaos it was created in, but our destiny scroll vibrates with God’s eternal purposes. That frequency, vibration, sound, is being released from heaven right now. Are we hearing it, feeling it or sensing it? Let’s choose to resonate with it; it is calling us back into alignment with our heavenly destiny. If we are not yet tuned in to it, let’s be willing to train our senses through practice to recognise it (Heb 5:14). It is wooing us into relationship, into knowing God by experience and encounterrestoring our identity and authority as sons.

The eyes of your heart

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened (opened), so that you will know what is the hope of His calling (destiny), what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints (Eph 1:18).

We can engage the river and engage our destiny through the eyes of our heart, our imagination. Our reason is limited, but not so our imagination. As Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world.”

Open the door

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me” (Rev 3:20).

In the centre of our spirit is the door of first love. Behind it is a river of life waiting to burst through.

Open the door and let the source of life flow from heaven into your spirit.

Picture a river flowing by a green pasture
Lie down in the pasture
With Jesus, the Shepherd of your soul, beside you.

Enjoy His presence
Feel His love, His joy, His peace.
He restores your soul
Touching the deep areas of your life

to bring wholeness, healing and blessing.

Stay there for a while…
Step into the river
Feel its energy
Touching every atom, every fibre of your being
Flowing through you.

You can breathe in that water
You can drink that water,
Receive life in abundance.

The river flows on
Through the garden of your heart
Watering that garden with life
And out into the world.

Turn, and follow it back upstream
Through the door, back into heaven.
Breathe in the atmosphere of heaven.
Sense its energy, its life, its purity.

Look at the riverbed.
See the scrolls and the gems that are there for you
To provide for you, to bless you, to be your source.

Stand under the waterfall cascading down from the garden of God
Feel it pulsating down, energising you
Let deep call to deep
Revealing the deposit of your destiny within you.

Go up the waterfall (you can do that in heaven)
At the top, walk towards the garden of God.
Jesus is waiting on the bridge ahead of you
Look into His eyes
Feel His love

He is inviting you to hand over every burden
Every weight of responsibility you are carrying
You don’t want to be carrying all that when you go in and meet the Father.

Hand it all over.

Walk through the archway into the garden of God
Experience what it is to be in the presence of your Father who loves you
The One who destines you to rule in the heavens and on the earth.

Just learn to be.
