188. Live And Not Die

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

Our inheritance is to be heirs of the world, to bring God’s government to creation (Rom 4:13, Gal 3:29). God promised that David’s seed would sit on his throne for ever (Psalm 132:11-12, 2 Samuel 7:16).

The land promised to Abraham was intended as a starting point from which blessing would spread to all the nations. Israel failed in that, but Jesus’ disciples accomplished it by taking the Good News out to the rest of the world, making available to everyone the blessing of God.

As the original Joshua generation began to take that starting point, that land of promise, they reinstituted two important practices (Joshua 5:6-10). The first of these, circumcision, we considered before. The second was the Passover.

Passover

Jesus is the ultimate fulfilment of Passover – John the Baptist identified Him as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” – and when He celebrated it with His disciples, He reinterpreted it in light of what was to happen to Him, investing it with new power and significance.

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me” (1 Cor 11:23-25).

Authority and power

…and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel (Luke 22:29-30).

When we enter into the full revelation of what it means to take communion, we find that it enables us to be seated on thrones in another dimension: it confers upon us the authority to sit at His table in the heavenly realms.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Eph 2:4-7).

This is new, fresh revelation that God is making known in our days.

God releases to us the blessing with which every family on the earth will be blessed (Gen 22:17-18), so that we in turn release it and pour it out upon the earth. We are in a position to do that because not only have we been saved, redeemed, forgiven, but because we have also been brought into that place of authority, seated with Him in the heavenlies. When we break bread we are sharing and participating in that blessing which operates powerfully in and through our lives. We are joint-heirs with Christ.

Continually devoting

They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47).

Their continual devotion to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer had an effect: a sense of awe, miracles, generous sharing, and salvation. They were experiencing blessing for themselves, for one another, and for others.

Live and not die

Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself… For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep (1 Cor 11:27-30).

Because there is power in it, we need to be careful. With a Hebrew worldview, though, we understand that if eating and drinking unworthily can bring weakness, sickness and death, then doing so in the right way can bring strength, health and life.

“I am the bread of life… the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die… not as the fathers ate [manna] and died; he who eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:48-58).

Jesus’ Jewish audience were not allowed to even eat the flesh of an animal with blood in it. So they were horrified when He spoke about living forever by eating His flesh and drinking His blood. But a few sentences later He went on to underline the importance of what He had just said:

“…the words that I have spoken to you” – that is, about eating His flesh and drinking his blood – “are spirit and are life” (John 6:63).

What does it mean to live and not die? It means an end to the principle of death operating within our genetic material, an end to the patterns of sin and iniquity which cause death. Death came about because of sin, but life, health and wholeness come through participating in the body and blood of Jesus.

I want to fulfil the purpose God has for my life, and not die. There are biblical precedents for not dying: both Enoch and Elijah were simply taken by God instead. And there will be a whole generation on the earth when Jesus returns who will not experience death either. That is what I would like for myself, and I am sure the same is true of some of you.

Apply the blood

Applying the body and blood of Christ has the power to remove the blockages to receiving our eternal inheritance.

Israel had to defeat the ‘-ites’ nations, the kings and the giants in their Promised Land, and we too have to deal with them in our bloodlines: the enemy activity, familiar and familial spirits, sinful and iniquitous behaviour and genetic patterns in our lives.

The death of Egypt’s firstborn struck at the heart of that nation’s inheritance. And just as the blood of the original Passover lambs had to be applied to the doorposts (or the angel of death would have visited the sons of Israel as well), so too the blood of Jesus has to be applied to our lives if our inheritance is not to be denied us.

We do not need to only do this once a year, or once a week, as a religious ritual: we can celebrate this communion every day. We can participate in it and in faith apply the body and blood of Jesus to our genetic material, transforming us into Christ’s image as sons; a whole new dimension of transformation, bringing glory to Him. The body and blood of Jesus will renew us so that we can enter into everything God has for us and fulfil His purpose for our lives.

Nothing need prevent us from receiving our full inheritance as sons of God

187. New Dimensions of Authority and Power

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

We are reviewing some characteristics of the Joshua generation, as we consider what they have to teach us about taking up our inheritance.

21.The Joshua Generation will free the next generation from the reproach and effects of past generations into new revelation of past activities.

Now when they had finished circumcising all the nation, they remained in their places in the camp until they were healed. Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you…”(Joshua 5:8-9)

Paul tells us:

…circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter… (Rom 2:29)
and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ (Col 2:11).

The reproach – shame, disgrace, blame, disapproval, disappointment – of our past lives has been removed. We are no longer held back by our old identity of slave, orphan, victim, sinner, useless, hopeless, failure. We are free to minister and disciple in our new identity as sons not slaves. As slaves, we could only disciple people into slavery; as sons, we can disciple people into sonship, ready to take possession of their inheritance.

Covenant relationship

Circumcision was a sign of their covenant relationship with God, in which their hearts were set apart for Him. Circumcision of our hearts is a sign that the old has gone and the new has come; a sign of our sonship and identity; a sign that we have a new home, land and inheritance. The old nature of self and selfishness is cut away, and in covenant we exchange our ‘old’ for all His ‘new’.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10).

That represents what God did for us in the New Covenant, when we entered in to what Jesus accomplished through the cross.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom 12:1-2).

Step into a different dimension

Let’s make a choice to cross the Jordan into the place of covenant exchange. It is one thing to consecrate ourselves and say,‘Yes, I am going to cross’: quite another to actually cross over. We have that opportunity now to step into a different dimension. Jesus opened up heaven so that we could come through the veil and present ourselves to Him, our High Priest. We may find it helpful to do something physical, by taking a literal step forwards, while spiritually we enter into where the cross is active.

I would encourage you to speak these words out, and take a step forwards, as a demonstration of what you are doing in coming to the place of covenant exchange with God. See, in front of you now there is a river in flood. But God has sent angels to hold back that water. As you look, there is dry land appearing, a way for you to walk across.

I step in through the veil of Jesus through the way of the cross
I step into the realm of your government
I present myself to you, Jesus my High Priest, to circumcise my heart
I come to trade on the brazen altar of covenant exchange.

I exchange my sin for your righteousness
I exchange my rejection for your acceptance
I exchange my guilt for your forgiveness
I exchange my sickness for your health
I exchange my old life for your new life.

I exchange my old identity for your new identity
I exchange my old name for your new name
I exchange my old nature for your new nature
I exchange my old bondage for your new freedom
I exchange my old records for your new record
I exchange my past for your future.

I exchange my darkness for your light
I exchange my weakness for your strength
I exchange my thoughts for your thoughts
I exchange my character for your character
I exchange my ways for your ways.

I step back into this realm forgiven, cleansed, and clothed with righteousness
I am empowered for transformation to manifest your glory, bringing heaven to earth through my life
My heart is circumcised, my life is consecrated and set apart for your kingdom purposes

I receive your healing and wholeness
I receive your adoption, acceptance and affirmation as a son.
I am a son, ready to take possession of my inheritance.

We are God’s children. We are His people. We have stepped across that water today. Old things will go; new things are coming. We are taking possession of what belongs to us: new dimensions of authority and power.

Twelve stones

Let’s mark this down as an important day. Israel took twelve stones from the river bed and set them up on the bank of the Jordan so that they would remember how they crossed over from the old into the new. Whenever the enemy comes to us to say ‘You’re a slave’, we can remind him of this day when we crossed over; that we are no longer slaves, but sons.

So now let’s act, think, and behave like mature sons, operating in the fullness of our inheritance.

186. No Longer a Slave, but a Son

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

We are looking in more detail at selected characteristics of the Joshua Generation. All those characteristics come out of relationship: they are characteristics of sons, not slaves.

Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, but he is under guardians and tutors…  But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son… so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God (Gal 4:1-7).

If we are to have an inheritance, we need to know and have a relationship with the Father. Jesus secured that relationship for us, and we need to enter into it. We are heirs, those who inherit the promises of God, but if we remain as spiritual children we will not be able to handle all God has for us. Unless we mature, we will be no better off than slaves.

14. The Joshua Generation will be filled with the spirit of wisdom

Now Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; and the sons of Israel listened to him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses (Deut 34:9).

Wisdom is not just something that we can pick up along the way as we go through life. Wisdom is imparted by the spirit of wisdom.

The seven spirits of God

The guardians and tutors mentioned by Paul in Galatians are there to equip God’s people to act as sons; to explain what it means to be a son; to teach us what it is to have an understanding of the Father’s heart, just as they did with Jesus.

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord (Isa 11:2).

…Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne (Rev 1:4)

The seven spirits of God are our guardians and tutors. They are not on His throne; they are not the Holy Spirit; they are heavenly creatures, created to bring God’s people into sonship. They have a deep understanding of the ways of God. If we are willing, the seven spirits of God are going to have much more to do with us in future than ever before. We can engage with them to teach us, because we need what they can bring.

20. The Joshua Generation will equip the people to be consecrated (or sanctified) – set apart, dedicated and holy.

Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5).

On the east side of the Jordan, before they crossed over into the Promised Land, they were called upon to make a decision: whether they would consecrate themselves, set themselves apart, from everything they had already gone through, into something completely new.

Now the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you” (Josh 3:7).

God will acknowledge and affirm the Joshua Generation. He will do things through them; but not the way He has done them in the past. God would be with Joshua just as He had been with Moses, but actually He was about to begin to do something new.

You shall, moreover, command the priests who are carrying the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan’” (Josh 3:8).

Coming to the borders of the Promised Land they were faced with a very large river, in flood. It looked likely, from a natural point of view, that it would stop them entering in.

So they needed a supernatural answer.

Then Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.” Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will assuredly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite” (Josh 3:9-10).

All these ‘-ites’ had possession of Israel’s inheritance. For us, they represent mindsets, patterns of iniquity, or anything else that prevents us receiving our inheritance. We may have tried to remove those things before, from the outside in, but God promises that He is in us and can remove them from the inside out.

Pruning

In a vision I saw a tree with fruit on it. God came, pruned all the branches and removed all the fruit. He said ‘I am now going to deal with and fertilise the roots’.

He is removing all the things we have seen as fruit, maybe miracles and healings, supernatural provision: all the things God has done for us in the past. He wants to deal with the roots, to fertilise them so that the tree produces a new form of fruit. We are going to see miracles, but happening in a new way.

All the familiar miracles of God’s provision stopped when they crossed over the Jordan: manna, quails, water out of the rock, guidance by the pillar of cloud and fire, their clothes not wearing out. God had been treating them as children, doing everything for them, but now it was time for them to mature.

If we are entering into a new dimension of God in the Spirit, we cannot expect Him to keep on doing things exactly as He has done them in the past. So often we pray, ‘God, do this, do that’, or ‘Lord, heal this person’, and He looks down and smiles: ’I told you to do that. You can do that miracle. You are my children. You have an inheritance, to be like Me and do the things that I do’.

When the old ways stop, if we continue to try to operate in them, we will begin to find that there is no anointing in them. God is taking us from a place of being children in our understanding and encouraging us to mature into our responsibility as sons.

Spies

Then Joshua the son of Nun sent two men as spies secretly… They said to Joshua, “Surely the Lord has given all the land into our hands; moreover, all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before us” (Joshua 2:2, 24).

The enemy is fearful of us. That is why he tries so hard to keep us from realising who we are. He wants us to remain as children, because he knows he is going to be in real trouble if we mature as sons. He has no power over us other than that which we give him.

Since August 2010 I have been equipping and sending spies into the new land of our spiritual inheritance; firstly here at Freedom Church, and more recently around the world. Some of you are those spies. You have gone in to a new spiritual dimension and seen your spiritual inheritance. You have experienced the realms of heaven. You have seen something of mountains in heaven, courts in heaven, rivers in heaven. You have experienced these things first hand; perhaps not yet in their fullness, but you know they are there and waiting for you to move into them. You are like the spies coming back with a good report.

Consecrate yourselves

Some, like Joshua, Caleb and the spies have already been forerunners. Now it is time for the rest to go in. But 2½ tribes, the Reubenites (passing up their inheritance as descendants of the firstborn), Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, chose to make their home in the old and familiar rather than in the Land of Promise.

Who is willing to cross over Jordan leaving the old revelation and old ways behind?
Who is willing to separate themselves from their old identity as slaves?
Who is willing to leave the childish things of immaturity behind?

We can live in the new land of new spiritual revelation, new methods, and new authority; but the transition from the old to the new is always a battle.

Is anyone willing to consecrate themselves and cross the Jordan, to take personal responsibility as mature heirs and not children? If so, let’s step into the mobile court of God together.

The mobile court

The mobile court of God is here. Around us is a cloud of witnesses, here on our behalf. The seven spirits of God are here to affirm us in our identity. Jesus is here as our advocate.

We are coming to face our accusers: the strongholds and the familiar spirits which are behind the mindsets that would keep us in slavery, keep us in childhood, keep us from our inheritance. We are going to consecrate ourselves and separate ourselves from those mindsets.

I step into the place of responsibility in the governmental mobile court
I accept responsibility as a priest of my own life
I take the covering of the word of God
And I place it over my head as a covering of Your love.

I agree with my accusers
That I have operated with a slavery mentality and an orphan spirit
Father, I accept responsibility for thinking and acting like a slave and an orphan
I repent and renounce slavery
And I choose to forgive and release all my previous generations
For giving me an inheritance of slavery.

I come under the covering of your word, blood and presence
I ask you to judge me according to the covering of your love for my life
Judge this slavery and orphan spirit in me
To destroy its yoke and power over my life.

I stand cleansed, righteous, innocent
I receive divorce papers from its influence
I confess that I am divorced and separated
From slavery and its influence in my life.

I release judgment over my accusers
The familiar spirits behind the strongholds, speculations and mindsets of slavery
I release divinely power judgment to demolish all slavery in my life – body, soul and spirit.

I administer judgment and justice as a son
Into every circumstance and area of influence in my life affected by this issue of slavery.

I consecrate myself as Your son
I receive Your inheritance as a son
I declare myself ready to leave the old ways behind me
And cross over into a new land.

184. An Earthly and a Heavenly Inheritance

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise (Gal 3:29).

Where a will is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it (Heb 9:16).

Usually, we receive an inheritance when someone has died, and left us something in their will. Jesus, the firstborn, has died for us. He received judgment so that we can receive blessing: an eternal inheritance.

The Hebrew word nachalah means inheritance, possession of property, or heritage. It is used 273 times in the Old Testament; on 183 occasions it relates to land as a gift.

The Hebrew word yarash means to seize, dispossess, take possession of, or inherit. It is used 255 times in the Old Testament; on 210 occasions it relates to military action.

Joshua Generation

Our inheritance, then, is given by grace as a gift but is received by taking possession of it. And there can be a significant difference between what God is willing to give us and what we are willing to receive (or take possession of).

His will for us is our eternal destiny and our inheritance. Just as Joshua led God’s people to possess their inheritance, so we are to be a Joshua Generation who lead people in to receive their own inheritance in God.

What do we inherit?

  • Eternal life, starting now (not only when we die).
  • Redemption, being bought back out of slavery into freedom.
  • Reconciliation with God, who welcomes us back into relationship in His family..
  • Destiny, purpose and Jesus’ mantle: His authority, which He has left for us to pick up.

Jesus inherited everything from the Father, and He has passed on to us the right to receive our family inheritance:

All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you (John 16:15).

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name (John 1:12).

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ (Rom 8:16-17).

We have a share in everything that belongs to God (and that is absolutely everything), if we believe. He is not a stingy Father. He does not want to hold anything back. He wants us to know what is ours.

For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes (answer) in Him (Christ) (2Cor 1:20 AMP).

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise (Gal 3:29).

It is sons who receive an inheritance; slaves and orphans do not:

Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God (Gal 4:7).

An earthly inheritance, and a heavenly one

This is not only an earthly inheritance, but a heavenly one. We inherit his very nature, His character, His authority:

For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus  (Eph 1:3, 2:6).

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt 28:18-20).

In John, chapters 13-17, Jesus speaks a great deal about our inheritance, and about His relationship with the Father, and the relationship He wants us to have with Him.

The beginning and the end

To understand our inheritance, we need to look at the beginning (the book of Genesis), to see what God’s original intention was for us; we also need to look at the end (the book of Revelation), to see how God’s intention is fulfilled. As we do, we see many parallels between the beginning and the end.

We live in the middle, though, and God wants us to play our part in bringing about that end. This is all about restoration. God is looking to restore to us all that was originally intended in the garden, so that we can find the final consummation of that in the eternal garden of God.

We were made in His image, to rule (Gen 1:26-28).

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed…  Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers (Gen 2:7-10).

Two realms overlap

You were in Eden, the garden of God; You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire (Ezek 28:13-14).

Eden was on the holy mountain of God, and the two gardens of heaven and earth overlapped and intersected. That is where our physical and our spiritual inheritance comes together. Adam and Eve were excluded because of sin, but Jesus has opened up for us the way to access the tree of life once again. The garden of our hearts overlaps with the garden of God, and we can walk with him in the garden once more.

And at the end it is just as it was in the beginning, God walking with men:

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea… And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the home of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them (Rev 21:1,3).

Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life… And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever (Rev 22:1-2, 5).

At the end, we get to do what we were commissioned to do in the beginning, to bring the rule of God into creation. And Jesus returns only when everything is restored to original condition:

… that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time (Acts 3:20-21).

Our inheritance is:

  • to be the image of God, on earth as it is in heaven
  • to be blessed (empowered to prosper)
  • to be fruitful, to multiply and fill the earth
  • to subdue or overcome to possess and rule
  • to have a relationship with God in heaven and on earth
  • to live in heaven and on earth simultaneously, as Adam did, and as Jesus did

The law of first mention

It is very important to see how inheritance is first introduced in the Bible, because the first mention determines how that word is to be interpreted throughout the scriptures.

“I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth”. Rachel and Leah said to him, “Do we still have any portion or inheritance in our father’s house?” (Gen 31:13-14).

Let us ask the same question, do we still have any portion or inheritance in our Father’s house? And if we do, what and where is His house? (The name Bethel actually means ‘the house of God’). Where is ‘the land of our birth’ to which we should return?

Our heritage of covenant stretches back to Adam, and Abraham’s covenant is our connection to our inheritance: “in you all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Gen 12:1-3).

God appeared to Abraham at Bethel (Gen 12:7-8).  And when his grandson Jacob later came to Bethel, it was there that he saw a ladder reaching to heaven and angels of God ascending and descending, and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven” (Gen 28:10-17).

Our relationship with God brings us back to a place where heaven is open, and where we ourselves become a gate of heaven and a house of God.

‘You are My beloved Son’

Jesus was illegitimate in the world’s eyes. In Jewish culture he had no right to inherit. But God had something different in mind:

Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” (Mark 1:10-11).

God desires to legitimise who you are, to recognise you as His child.

We are under an open heaven.
Father God is standing on the threshold of heaven and earth, and speaks words of affirmation, encouragement and legitimacy over you.
Receive these words in your spirit as God speaking directly to you:

I declare you are my beloved son and I am well pleased with you
I call you My child. I am your Father, you are mine and I am yours
I legitimise you as my child
I call forth your spiritual destiny.

I call your spirit to attention
Listen with your spirit to the words that I, your heavenly Father, have for you.

The Spirit of your Father gives witness to your spirit that you are My son
I bless your spirit with the spirit of sonship and the mindset of sonship
I bless you with a deep heart identity as My very own child, securely loved in My family
I bless you with the settled assurance that I have a future and hope for you
I have written your days in My book with love, for your best interest and My ultimate glory.

I bless you with the deep knowledge that I know what you need and I have all the resources of the universe to meet that need.

Listen with your spirit to My words for you.

My Spirit testifies to your spirit that you are My child.
I bless you with the ears to hear the testimony of the Spirit of the Lord,
the Spirit of knowledge, wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel, power and fear of the Lord.

I bless you with being tuned into Me
with eyes for seeing, ears for hearing
and a mind for understanding according to the Spirit
I bless you with being led by the fullness of My Spirit of truth
to see things as I see them in the heavenly realms.

I bless you with the deep knowledge that you are an heir, with your brother Jesus,
to all My treasuries
I bless you with the confidence that you lack for nothing that you need,
spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically and practically.

I bless you with the sure understanding
that I want you to have My blessings and My glory to possess your birthright
I bless you with the desire to press forward to see the glory that I am revealing.

I bless you with a heart that does not rebel or shrink back
from the opportunities I put before you daily
I bless you with a hunger for the manifestation of My glory day by day
in you and through your life.

I declare that you are no longer a slave, an orphan or a victim
I declare that you are mine and I am yours
I am your inheritance, and you are My inheritance.

I declare that I am your Father, and you are My son.
I give you access to your heavenly home
I give you access to the river and tree of life.

I call you to be a gateway of heaven on the earth.

You are my child
and I call you to be displayed as a mature son on the earth.

‘Engaging God’ is an interactive modular programme developed by Mike Parsons.

Through using it you will learn how to access God through Jesus who is the Way, Truth and Life, in the realms of heaven and within your own spirit and heart; and how to take up your responsibility as a mature son [daughter] in God’s kingdom.

Many people have had involuntary or ecstatic encounters or experiences where they have engaged God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and the realms of heaven in visions. Whether you have had such experiences yourself or not, through this programme you will learn to develop the ability to engage and re-engage those encounters at will, and to mature in outworking the revelation you receive from God on a daily basis.

Vision Destiny 2015

Free download

Mike Parsons’ 3-session teaching series, Vision Destiny 2015, is available for free download from our website.

We believe that these messages contain important prophetic words for the people of God in 2015.

A reflection of God on earth?

Are we a shadow or reflection of God on earth so He can fully occupy us?

We are responsible for the revelation we have been given:
Are we aligned to that revelation?
Are we acting like forerunners?

“I am going to release the 7 spirits and your assigned councillors in greater measure
to those who will position themselves
and take the responsible seats of government.”

The Lion roars

This year will be the year where the Lion roars,
where Kingship will be revealed
and where enthronements take place,
where authority is released at a higher level.

You are a son of God, called to have dominion;
governmental authority,
in, and through, and around your life.

Judgment is coming

Judgment is coming:
God drawing a line, saying,
“This is me… and this is not”.

Judgment is not a punishment to death
but a decision to call us to choose life.

Impending upheaval

“The very stars are awaiting their repositioning orders, as Sons accept their call to action from their mandated positions of true governmental authority.

“Look to the constellations for the signs of impending upheaval
as the affairs of the nations are administered by the sons of God once more.
The stars will release their light and glory to the sons of God:
the resonance of their light and sound once again restored to divine order.”

You can download this latest 3-session teaching series, Vision Destiny 2015, completely free of charge from our website.

These key teaching sessions release important prophetic words for 2015. Whilst originally delivered in Freedom Church, so that some of the content relates specifically to the local body, much will be of value to the wider ekklesia of God (especially sessions 2 and 3, those titled ‘Vision Destiny 2015’).

176. Occupying Our Inheritance

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott –

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… (Rom 12:2).

We are to be transformed so that we will know the will of God for our lives, what our destiny is, ordained by God in eternity past, when we were a spiritual being.

We are all unique; we all have an individual destiny, but for each one of us it is to bring the rule of God into our own particular sphere of influence. God called Adam to subdue the earth and rule over it, to bring heaven to earth, so that earth would be a reflection of heaven. If we don’t know what it is like in heaven, we cannot reflect it here on earth.

The Promised Land

The Promised Land is an illustration of our inheritance, both physical and spiritual.

The “-ites” nations occupied Israel’s inheritance and were not about to simply walk out and vacate the land so that God’s people could walk in. Israel was supposed to take possession of the land – and there were things that needed dispossessing.

If we want to inhabit our inheritance and become completely whole, spirit, soul and body, we have to deal with those “-ites” that represent things in our lives. They are hindering and blocking God’s kingdom and the fullness of His provision for us, so we cannot afford to leave behind any little stronghold or pocket of resistance of the enemy, any familiar spirit, anything that can rob us of our inheritance.

When the children of Israel were challenged to enter the land, all kinds of thoughts and fears suddenly surfaced in them. They saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to the giants living there. Only Caleb and Joshua protested, “The Lord is with us; do not fear them”. We too may have giants in our lives: things which intimidate us, frighten us and stop us fulfilling the purpose of God. Thoughts may come into our mind to oppose us, stop us, and cause us to fear. But like Caleb and Joshua, we will come into our inheritance if we believe what God says and act on it in faith.

All the earth

But indeed, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord (Num 14:21).

God will fulfil that promise. Not just a small piece of land in the Middle East, but the whole earth. If the nation of Israel had done what the Lord said, they would have taken the whole world (which was actually Abraham’s inheritance).

They did not, but we will.

Spiritual authority

For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God (Rom 8:19).

Everything in the physical and spiritual sphere, the heavens and earth, is waiting for the true sons, joint heirs with Christ, to enter into in the fullness of our inheritance.

Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! (Psa 24:7).

Heads are symbols of authority, and gates are access points. Each one of us has authority. We are called to be a head and not a tail. We are called to rule in our individual spheres. If we are lifted up to a place of authority we become gates for the King of glory to come into this world through our lives.

As we are lifted up, the ancient (or everlasting) doors are also lifted up, so that the glory comes from heaven to earth. In every revival (outpouring) an everlasting door is open. Everlasting doors are access points for heaven to invade earth, around our lives, in our spheres of influence. Scripture also calls them the ‘windows of heaven‘.

Tr13

The physical and the spiritual

We have to access heaven in order to deal with the nations, the dragons and the giants. It is no good trying to have spirit, soul and body to access the world, unless we have the spiritual authority operating in heaven. The enemy has taken possession of our spiritual inheritance. We have stayed on this side of the “river Jordan”, afraid to go into heaven. Religion has told us we could not go there, that if we did, we would die. But our thrones are there, and we should be ruling on them: we should be exercising the authority God has given us. If we do not rule, someone or something else will rule in our place.

Blood line and seed line

Our blood line and seed line iniquity can enable the enemy to occupy our mountain thrones in the ‘kingdom of God’ heavenly realm and block the everlasting doors.

Let’s consider Ham’s generational line:

When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him. So he said, “Cursed be Canaan… (Gen 9:24-25).

Ham was the father of Canaan, and Ham’s sexual sin and perversion can be seen in the increasing depravity of the eleven “-ites” nations and in Sodom and Gomorrah. The Canaanite gods and goddesses engaged in all kinds of sexual acts and their worshippers engaged in ritual prostitution, infant sacrifice and other deviant behaviour. They were totally impure genetically and needed to be wiped out. Joshua was instructed to destroy them to stop the iniquity continuing.

Each of us came from one or more of Noah’s three sons. If we ask, God will give revelation of what is in our generational line which needs to be dealt with. Even if something lies dormant and is not operating, it is just waiting to come to life. If we don’t deal with it now, it can affect us in the future.

The fourth generation

Then in the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete (Gen 15:16).

Abraham was promised all blessings in that territory, but only after the fourth generation had been completed. The fourth generation came, but turned back. Joshua and Caleb were its only representatives who remained in covenant relationship. They became giant-killers, king-killers and stronghold-takers. That is our inheritance.

Our Inheritance can be blocked by blood-line iniquity

Patterns of repetitive sin – rob us.
Negative influences – block our inheritance.

They can be hidden in our blood-lines but affecting us now. That is why we pray:

Search me thoroughly, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful (wicked) way in me,
and lead me in the everlasting way
(Psa 139:23-24).

Nations and kings represent enemy activity, familiar and familial spirits, sinful and iniquitous behaviour patterns in our lives. Ian Clayton offers this list of the kings and cities which must be destroyed in us:

Josh 12:9
The king of Jericho, the king of the false Holy Spirit, breath or life or moon
The king of Ai, the king of the twisted perverted sins

Josh 12:10
The king of Jerusalem, the king of bitter waters (waters of false peace)
King Adoni-zedec, the king of the false accuser

King Hoham: the king of a great multitude of problems, who make a sound of war

Josh 12:11
The king of Jarmuth, the king of the high and haughty pride
King Piram, the king of bestiality; wild, acting like an animal, fierce and stubborn
The king of Lachish, the king of the obstinate hard and stubborn sins
King Japhia, the king of the false Christ, bright light, false light

Josh 12:12
The king of Eglon, the king of the false prosperity also a calf or bullock
King Debir, the king of false prophets – false words about God
The king of Gezer, the king of ambushes; high, hard-to-reach places
King Horam, king of religious spirits

Josh 12:13
The king of Geder, the king of strongholds against God

Josh 12:14
The king of Hormah, the king of suicide, secluded religious cult devoted
to death
The king of Arad, the king of lasciviousness, wild, uncivilised, out of control

Josh 12:15
The king of Libnah, the king of false reputation, self-justification, I’m OK
The king of Adullam, the king of Moab justice or violence, rioting

Josh 12:16
The king of Makkedah, The king of the false shepherds, false church leaders
The king of Bethel, The king of false churches, houses of God

Josh 12:17
The king of Tappuah, the king of the forbidden fruit, apple orchards
The king of Hepher, the king of depression, a pit or well of shame and reproach

Josh 12:18
The king of Aphek, The king of entrenched strongholds or sins you are holding on to
The king of Lasharon, The king of false rose of Sharon (Christ), beautiful valley

Josh 12:19
The king of Madon, the king of fighting and arguments
The king of Hazor, the king of problems as big as a castle, walled castles

Josh 12:20
The king of Shimronmeron, the king of the rebellious filthy task masters
The king of Achshaph, the king of the satanic wizards and sorcerers

Josh 12:21
The king of Taanach, the king of the wanderlust, walking blindly
The king of Megiddo, the king of mutilation, the self-inflicted wounds

Josh 12:22
The king of Kedesh, the king of false holiness
The king of Jokneam of Carmel, the king of false repenting and sorrow

Josh 12:23
The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, the king of rebellion
The king of the nations of Gilgal, the king of false liberty, grace to sin

Josh 12:24
The king of Tirzah, the king of selfishness, idolatry

Let’s go over this list and ask God to show us what is there in our generational line, which of these things is affecting our life, hindering the opening up of the everlasting doors. We should:

  • Pray ‘search my heart, O God’ (Psa 139:23-24)
  • Repent of our sinful behaviours
  • Identify patterns of iniquity represented by “-ites” nations and kings
  • Forgive our ancestors
  • Access the mobile court of God
  • Identificationally accept the accusations
  • Repent for the sin of our generations
  • Receive a mandate of divorce separating us from the effect of those things.

Then the everlasting doors can be opened in our lives, and we will be able to receive the fulness of our spiritual and physical inheritance. When we are transformed and changed, nothing in our life can rob us of the fulfilment of God’s promises for us.

Then the earth will indeed be filled with the glory of God.

167. Pursue and Embrace

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

Fire Season

Prophetic Timetable 2019 FIRE SeasonThe fire of God’s Presence is coming to the church, to remove and gather stumbling blocks, to raise up a Joshua Generation.

We must be strong and ready if we are to withstand the coming storms: and we will find God in the midst of some of them, hidden in the fire and the clouds and the smoke.

At the dedication of the temple, the priests could not stand and minister when the glory of God’s presence came. But we have to learn to stand and minister in the storm of glory, in the storm of judgment that is coming to the church, where God is drawing a line, saying ‘This is Me, and this is not’.

Open spiritual warfare is coming: we must be able to withstand it. When everything starts to fall apart, God’s people will be raised up. When the time comes for the storm of judgment to come upon the world, we are not only to have the answer, we are to be the answer.

In being transformed (2 Cor 3:18) we are being changed into the image of Jesus, the image we had before the foundation of the world, from one degree of glory to another. That process of change enables us to display the glory of God, the manifest presence of God, on earth as it is in heaven. We do not call heaven down, we bring heaven down. To bring heaven to earth, we have to be able to access heaven: God is opening up heaven so that we can engage there.

We can choose to pursue and embrace this process of change, or not. Only by so doing can we be prepared and able to do all that God has called and destined us to do. Otherwise we risk being unprepared and unable. Do we want to stay babies and infants for ever? One day we will have to give account for what we have done about the call of God and our scroll of destiny. I have chosen to respond to His call, and go after my destiny: how about you?

Wall of Fire

‘For I,’ declares the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst’ (Zech 2:5).

To come into the glory, we have to go through the wall of fire. That wall of fire is God’s Presence. The glory in the midst is His Person. God wants to take us from having wonderful experiences of His Presence to being able to look Him in the face, a completely different level of relationship.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy (Jude v24).

He will keep us from stumbling (the removal of stumbling blocks is part of our transformation), so that we can stand in His glory and not be completely destroyed by it.

Wilderness

A voice is calling, “Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isa 40:3-5).

The environment in which transformation takes place can seem like a wilderness. God has a purpose in bringing us there. Let us be willing to face and embrace it, unlike the children of Israel:

Then they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness” (Ex 14:11-12).

But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent” (Ex 14:13-14).

They were afraid of the uncertainty of change, preferring the slavery of their previous life. They were like baby Christians, saved out of Egypt but not willing to be transformed. How many of us responded to a gospel of salvation rather than to the true gospel of the kingdom, and have been surprised at the cost of becoming a disciple of Jesus? We have seen salvation as a one-off event, whereas the Greek word ‘sozo’ implies a process of transformation.

If we want our old life to ‘never be seen again for ever’, we cannot keep looking back towards it. Instead, we focus on what is to come, on the change that God desires. The wilderness is a place of separation in which we can deal with our souls and allow that transformation to take place. It is a place of calling, as Moses was called at the burning bush. It is a place of testing and overcoming, as Jesus was tested and emerged victorious.

Forerunners will go into the wilderness to prepare the way for others. It may be inconvenient, uncomfortable, inhospitable, but here we can learn to fight, to overcome, to be obedient, to trust in God’s provision. Here we can be prepared to possess our inheritance. Here God can deliver a message that will transform our lives.

Here He can make straight the crooked ways of our behaviour. He can fill the valleys, the low places of our lack of confidence, our inadequacies, insecurities and weaknesses. The mountains of pride, personal agendas and ambitions, self-promotion, self-reliance and competitiveness He can make low.

Our crooked, uneven ways of thinking and understanding, our carefully concealed secrets and moral compromise He can straighten out. The rough ground of our defects of personality and character He can make a plain. He will bring about changes in our attitudes, beliefs and actions to bring us into alignment with the kingdom, so that the Glory of the Lord can be revealed in us.

The Highway of Holiness

A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way (Isa 35:8).

Righteousness is gifted to us, so that we can choose to be holy. The highway of holiness is built in our souls, in our hearts. In this process let us seek to be ruthless, honest, and open to the light. We will identify by revelation the patterns of sin, weakness, hurts, mind-sets, character  issues, behavioural fruit and so on which are operating in our lives. We will deal with them by owning them, confessing, repenting, renouncing and forgiving. Blockages will be removed from our conscience, imagination, mind, emotions, and will.

I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent (Rev 3:18-19).

How do we buy? We present ourselves for transformation, as living sacrifices. We step into the presence of God through the pathway or veil of Jesus, through the cross. He will do the work in us, but beware: it will be at a deeper level than we have ever experienced before.

If we understand that, and are willing to submit to Him, then let’s pray:

Father by faith I choose to step into Your heavenly presence.
I receive Your acceptance, love, mercy and grace.
I stand in the victory of the cross forgiven, justified and cleansed.

I thank You that You clothe me in white robes of righteousness.
I am the righteousness of God in Christ.

Father I choose to give You full permission
To do whatever it takes to change me
And transform me into the image of Jesus.
I give You full permission to remove all stumbling blocks from me.

I give You full permission to use whatever means you see fit
To purify, refine and restore me to my original eternal condition.

Father I choose to deny myself
And surrender control of my life to You.

I give You my conscience.
I repent of and renounce everything that has damaged it.
I ask you to purify and restore my conscience,
Direct and protect me through my conscience
By a flow of reverence and fear of the Lord.

I give You my reason centre.
I repent of and renounce doubt, unbelief,
Rationalism, scepticism, cynicism and denial.
I ask You cleanse me of all false doctrine, philosophies and ideas.

I ask You to renew and restore my reason.
Use my reason to interpret your thoughts
And understand your ways

I give You my imagination.
I repent of and renounce viewing any image that has polluted me.
I ask you to blot out every negative image with the blood of Jesus.

Purify and restore my imagination.
Restore my screen, vision and revelation

I give You my heart, my sub-conscious mind.
I repent of and renounce all strongholds,
Negative belief and value systems,
Vows, words, curses, doctrines, triggers,
Coping and defence mechanisms.

I ask You to cleanse every negative memory.
Purify, restore and reprogram my heart
With Your truth, Your values and my destiny.

I give You my emotions.
I repent of and renounce all unforgiveness, bitterness and anger.
I ask You to purify and restore my emotions
Use my emotions to feel Your heart and guide me through intuition.

I give You my will.
I repent of and renounce all sin,
Rebellion, stubbornness, wilfulness, control, fear,
Doubt, unbelief and indecision

I ask You to purify and restore my will.
Restore courage, perseverance and boldness.
Use my will to enable me to do Your will
Through obedience and true worship.

Father I surrender my spirit, soul and body to You
I declare that Jesus is Lord of the gates of my life.

I step back into this realm
Readily available to do Your will and purposes.
Manifest Your glory and presence in and through my life.
Manifest Your kingdom authority and power through me and around me.

Amen

If you prayed that prayer, please do not be surprised what God brings to the surface in your life as a result… and please, don’t blame me! Be willing to deal with those things when they come up, so that God can have His way.

160. Our Defining Moment

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott

God only ever has ‘Plan A’. There is no ‘Plan B’. Each of us has a destiny, conferred and agreed before the foundation of the world, and with that destiny come both the creative ability and the authority to fulfil it. God has made it really simple for us. We can either step up, say ‘yes’ to His plan and fulfil our destiny, or hesitate, hold back, say ‘no’ and miss it.

Three generations

God is calling a generation in our days. In fact, He is speaking to three generations and calling them to fulfil their destiny.

  1. A Joshua generation, who will see the Promised Land, enter into it as forerunners and draw others in with them.
  2. A generation of harvesters, a billion of them, as prophesied (in 1975, a generation ago – and let us not miss the significance of that) by Bob Jones. These will reap the final harvest, which will be far more numerous, and to do so they will need to be operating in the fullness of Jesus’ greater works (John 14:12).
  3. The Moses generation, who have seen and experienced God’s deliverance and His miraculous provision. Faced with the giants and the walled cities, they have a choice to make. It is not too late for them, not yet.

The church today is in transition from one place to another, or at least, a part of it is. And we all have a choice to make. Two-and-a-half tribes of Israel chose to stay on the near side of the Jordan, chose not to enjoy the benefits of God’s provision for them, and more or less completely disappeared from history.

The generation who entered the Promised Land were offered exactly the same choice their fathers had rejected forty years before, with exactly the same obstacles to overcome, but this generation said ‘yes’ to God rather than ‘no’. Still, the process of taking the land was not easy. The cities had to be conquered (using God’s strategy, not theirs); the giants and the nations had to be dispossessed. Even though we choose to say ‘yes’ to Him, we will still have to fight for our inheritance, and we will have to be overcomers if we are to fulfil our destiny.

“This is me, and this is not”

Some will choose not to enter. We will honour them for the path they have trodden in the forefront of the purposes of God, some of them for decades. But if they are not prepared to take that final step, then we know that in God’s Prophetic Timetable there is a time for judgment to come to the house of God. Judgment is as simple as Him drawing a line, and saying “This is me, and this is not. Which will you choose?”

The church generally has a very poor reputation with the world. We may laugh at comedy shows like ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ and ‘Father Ted’, but they are an accurate reflection of how the world sees us. When I first taught this series in 2012, God told me that in three years He would be coming to overturn the tables of the moneychangers in His temple. Coming to us individually as the temple of the Holy Spirit, certainly. But also coming to the church, wherever it is not a true representation of Him.

Authentic works of the kingdom

We may think that here at Freedom our reputation with the world (at least locally) is somewhat different. We are engaging with and meeting the needs of people in our community, and of course there are many other churches of whom the same is true. But we cannot afford to be complacent. It is not enough. We must not settle. We must go in, inherit our destiny and take our Promised Land.

There is a whole generation of young people to be won for Christ. They will not respond to the same boring experience of church they have already rejected. And not just young people – the Joshua Generation and the harvesters will be of all ages. Nothing less than an authentic demonstration of the works of the kingdom will draw them in.

Cleansing the temple

I am going to once again shake all things.
I am going to turn over the moneychangers’ tables in My temple.
I am going to drive out the thieves and robbers from My temple.
I am preparing the whip right now to expose the attitudes and motives of your lives.
I am going to expose in My temple the church those who are using it for their own purposes.
There will be many exposed for who and what they are.

My temple will once again be known as the Father’s house; a place of habitation.
My temple will be known as a House of Prayer
Where My words of truth will set My people free.
And through free men
The world will be set free from the chaos, confusion and dominion of darkness it is in.

My desire is to reveal sons to the world; true sons living in the truth.
True temples where rivers of My presence and power are flowing to fulfil My purposes.

I am preparing the whip now,
So be ready for motives that are selfish and self-centred to be revealed.
Know for sure that My temple will be known as a true house of prayer.
(See Matt 21:12-13, John 2:12-22).

Jesus is plaiting a whip, and all those who are trading for their own purposes are going to be turned out. That three-year period will be finished early in 2015, when it will also be 40 years since Bob Jones’ prophecy. This is a serious business.

Visions

We have had a vision of a canopy being stretched over us, and eagles flying out, carrying the four corners of it into the far distance.

In another vision there was a portal opening, and angels coming through in great numbers. They were carrying cords attached to stakes, and dropping them at people’s feet. Some ignored the stakes completely, some knocked them into the ground where they stood, but others picked them up and took them as far as they could, until the ropes were pulled tight, and drove them in there.

The message is clear, and how we respond is of critical importance. These are exciting days. We have the opportunity to be part of a generation who will make history. This is a definitive choice, and our defining moment.

“Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15).

[This is one of those messages which remains a ‘now’ word, though much of this material was originally taught in session 9 of ‘Preparing For Destiny’ at Freedom Church in 2012 and refers to a sea-change in 2015. The audio and Mike’s notes for the whole series are available on our website. – Jeremy].

127. Relationship and Responsibility

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott –

On this blog we are just at the beginning of a new series of posts about preparing for our destiny.

We prepare according to God’s Prophetic Timetable of events for the future, so that we will be ready for what he is doing and ready to play our part in it. From a place of intimacy with God, we will allow Him to change and transform our lives, removing from us everything that is a hindrance or a stumbling-block.

He is raising up a Joshua generation who will press into their own inheritance, and lead the following generation into receiving theirs too. We need to receive that inheritance so that in the situations we will face in the coming days and years, when the world’s systems have broken down, we will be ready with the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit operating in our lives. We must be like Jesus: He brought the kingdom, and He calls us to do the same.

From eternity, God has a destiny appointed for us to fulfil, and we have been invested with authority to fulfil it. We need to wake up and take hold of who we are as the sons of God.

Man’s destiny has always been to rule, to bring heaven to earth (Gen 1:28). We bring the rule of heaven to earth so that we transform not just this planet but the whole of creation – our universe and even beyond that – which is groaning and longing for the sons of God to be fully revealed.

Psalm 24:7 says ‘Lift up your heads, O you gates’. It is talking about us being lifted up to that place of rulership and authority, so that we become a gateway for the King of Glory to come in and fill this world through our lives. That is what God wants to do through us: everything He is, grace, power, mercy, would be channelled through us, and that we would manifest them here on earth.

The Angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, the High Priest, who was standing in the presence of God in the heavens and said,

“If you will walk in My ways
and if you will perform My service,
then you will also govern My house
and also have charge of My courts,
and I will grant you free access
among these who are standing here”

(Zechariah 3:6-7).

This involves a progression of relationship and of levels of authority and responsibility that would bring us to our sonship.

We live here on the earth, with the atmosphere of the earth around us. In that atmosphere at present are the principalities, powers and rulers of wickedness. It is a kingdom in darkness. We ‘walk in His ways’ here, and we recognise that the kingdom of God is within us, but that we are also connected to the kingdom of God realm in the heavens.

As we keep the laws, the principles of the kingdom, as we administer righteousness and justice, so we learn to be lords, kings, and sons at that level in the heavenly realms (and also within us). Once we understand who we are and what our identity is, we can start ruling the house (our own house, but also the house of the Lord).

Then we can start judging the courts. The kingdom has foundations of righteousness, and justice, and it is God’s people who are eventually going to judge angels, and fallen angels. We have a right to bring judgment to change things in this realm, and eventually to have access to stand among those who are operating in the heaven of heavens.

When we start doing that, we remove those hierarchical authorities from the atmosphere of the earth, and we can rule. We rule in light, rule in love, rule in righteous power. The influence we have in the heavens will be manifested here on earth. God wants us to understand and to access those realms. The more we do so, the more we will bring the kingdom of God on the earth, both in us and through us, so that we shine with the glory of God.

That will deal with sickness, disease, poverty – all the things which rob God’s people (and the world) of their inheritance – and all that stolen inheritance will be restored.

We will manifest the rule of heaven on earth, just as Jesus did.
