Using Sound to Facilitate Rest

This is something I use to help other people, generally, when I was using them more, back then. I have not got a big enough office here to have the seven big bowls that we have, the coloured ones, there is not enough room. So I have just got one smaller one that I occasionally use if I want to help someone focus, or in meditation. If you engage the sound, it can bring you into a place where you are at rest. So I do use it that way occasionally, but I have never really used it particularly for myself. It depends entirely really on what people need.

377. Living in Rest

Intention Carried Through Sound

So I could use it to release a healing frequency. Again, it is my intention. When I play the sound, the sound carries my intention. If my intention is for you to experience peace or rest or joy or love or healing, then my intention is carried. And if you receive that intention and agree with it, and come into agreement for whatever it is I am releasing, then that begins to engage and touch you. You can use it in meditation just to focus your thinking and your mind on the sound, or you can use breathing techniques alongside it or independently of it, just to actually get your mind focused.

A lot of people struggle getting their mind to stop going round and round and round and thinking of things all the time. When it comes to meditation, you are fixing your thoughts on God to engage with God, and if there are lots of other thoughts going around, it can make it really quite difficult. So sometimes breaking the thought patterns that we have with a sound, so that we focus our thoughts on the sound, or even with breathing, slowly breathing in and breathing out very deeply and very slowly, can just get our mind off our thinking. Some people’s minds are like washing machines that just go round and round. They just cannot turn it off. They cannot come to a place of rest.

388. How Frequency Heals

Helping Focus and Engagement

Sometimes people need something to distract them and to focus their thinking so that meditation becomes easier for them and engaging God becomes easier. I have used it in lots of different ways, and I have used it in activations. It is not as easy in an activation when you are on the other end of a computer and a microphone. Sometimes you do not feel quite the same as what I am feeling if I am playing it in the room, but my intention is the same. Sometimes it can be quite distorted when you are trying to record it, which is not always the best.

I have used it in groups of people to focus a healing intention so that they would receive healing. When I first started using the bowls, we had a group of people who were interested to try them out, and we just practised intention. We went around the room and each person would play the bowl. I showed how to do it, and then I encouraged each person to focus their intention on a word and then play the bowl and release the word through the bowl. The rest of us would just receive what word they released.

Different Responses to Sound

It really was quite amazing. One person got every single word spot on. Others got the impression of the word. So if the word was peace, some people would feel calm, some would feel different words describing a peaceful rest, or other words they felt the intention in a way that they related to with a particular word. Some would say tranquil, others would say restful, but most people got it. So then we started to use that in helping people, releasing those sounds over people.

But some people might find it helpful and some people might find it distracting. The first time I played it to someone, one person said, “That is really piercing,” because it was hitting against something in their mind, so it felt quite uncomfortable. Another person said, “Wow, that is amazing.” Not everyone experiences the sound or the frequency or the intention in the same way. Sometimes it made the recordings quite difficult to hear what was going on, so I do not do it that often now in recordings.

The power of intention

Intention is incredibly powerful. When you hold a specific intention, it can be conveyed to someone else through frequency. We see this in ordinary conversation: when we speak, a wave of air reaches a listener’s ear, is translated by the brain, and is recognised as sound and language. What we say can therefore have an impact in everyday interactions. However, when we speak with explicit intention, it can have a much deeper effect.

For example, if I were to say something negative like, “You’re ugly, horrible, and everyone hates you,” that would clearly have a damaging effect. In contrast, if I said, “God loves you. You’re the apple of His eye, the treasure of His heart. You are unconditionally loved and blessed to be a blessing,” such positive intention lifts and enhances how a person feels.

Dr Emoto’s rice experiment

Scientists have demonstrated that even our words, which are essentially frequencies or waves, can have tangible effects. Studies have shown that speaking or playing sounds to water can alter the way water freezes—positive words produce harmonious, beautiful crystalline patterns, while negative words create unpleasant structures.

A Japanese researcher, Dr Masaru Emoto, famously boiled rice and split it between two jars: one labelled ‘hate’, the other ‘love’. Presumably, he also spoke corresponding words over them. After several days, the ‘hate’ jar began to go off and grow mould, while the ‘love’ jar remained fresh for much longer, suggesting that positive intention had a beneficial effect. He also conducted experiments with polluted lakes, gathering people to focus their thoughts and intentions on purifying the water; astonishingly, the water became clearer.

Intention experiments

Another researcher, Lynne McTaggart, has conducted intention experiments, where people’s focused intentions have helped locate missing persons or bring about other positive outcomes. This area is growing in understanding and application.

In my own workshops, I’ve invited people to experiment with intention using crystal bowls. About ten participants joined in and learned how to play the bowls. I then focused on transmitting a specific emotion while playing the bowls, without telling the group what it was. After I released my intention, I asked the others what they felt—one reported peace, another rest, another calm. My intention had, in fact, been to impart peace, and they each described the experience in their own words. We each took turns experimenting, and some participants were particularly tuned in, picking up every intention sent.

A healing intention

Later, I took this approach to a larger gathering and aimed to release a healing intention using three large crystal bowls tuned to C, D and E. I invited everyone to remain open to receive the intention through their bodies. Afterwards, one man—who wasn’t from a church background but was part of our rehabilitation unit—shared that he had lost feeling on one side due to past drug use. He sensed the sound’s frequency entering his body, began to vibrate, and the numbness completely disappeared, returning normal sensation.

This experiment served to show the power of intentionality. In the gospels, Jesus demonstrated that intention can transcend physical location—He spoke and healed people both near and far, laid hands on some, using vibrational energy. We know of Paul imparting healing through pieces of cloth (such as  handkerchiefs and aprons), which carried what many would call anointing or vibrational energy. When those pieces of cloth were placed on others, they too experienced healing.

Supernatural workshops

Back in 2011 and 2012, I held a number of supernatural workshops which were highly practical in nature. For example, we would do exercises such as closing your eyes and looking at your hand or observing the room—simple activities within a workshop environment where everyone was encouraged to practise. I’ve experimented with a variety of different approaches, including the use of crystal bowls and the unique frequencies they emit. We explored whether people could sense the intention carried on the frequency of the sound produced by a bowl, each of which operates at different sound wavelengths.

I organised workshops centred on this, and it was fascinating to observe that many participants were indeed able to pick up on the intention being conveyed through the sound. For instance, if I had a bowl in front of me and simply made a noise, it would just register as a sound to those present. However, when I played the sound with a specific intention—such as wishing for others to feel something—that vibration could be sensed in people’s bodies, and is  especially penetrating if the bowl was physically placed on them. The same wavelength of sound travelled throughout the room so that everyone could hear it, but the question was: could the sound wave also carry something deeper?

Decoding information

This phenomenon happens in scientific contexts all the time—we routinely send messages via airwaves, with information encoded on sound or frequencies, which are then decoded at the other end. Similarly, when I played the bowl with a particular intention, once participants quietened themselves and became receptive, they were increasingly able to pick up on that intention. I would play a sound, transmit an intention, and then invite everyone to sense what they felt.

For example, if I released an intention of peace, some people reported feeling calm or restful, using different words to describe what they were experiencing, but essentially referring to the intention I had sent. I experimented with releasing various frequencies to touch people, and as they received those frequencies, they could enter into a state of calm, peace, or rest. The sound itself became a sort of ‘bath’—something in which they could immerse themselves, feeling the vibration surrounding and penetrating them, bringing internal peace.

528Hz

I also used this technique with healing. Specifically, I played a crystal bowl resonating at the frequency of 528Hz, which is often associated with healing. I would embed an intention for healing in the sound and explain to the group that, rather than laying hands on them in prayer, they could receive healing at a distance if they were open to it. I pointed out that God can heal at a distance; even in scripture, Paul laid hands on cloths, which were then placed on people, resulting in healing—the cloth had effectively ‘carried’ an embedded frequency or intention.

Healing testimony

In the workshops, I encouraged people to tune in, open their hearts and being to receive the healing frequency and intention; if you don’t receive it, it simply passes you by. There was one man—a member of our therapeutic community at the time—who had suffered nerve damage that left one side of his body numb. When I released the healing frequency, he received it, and his testimony was that all the numbness had disappeared.

This demonstrates that it’s possible to practise and develop the ability to transmit and receive intention through sound and frequency with tangible results.
